He never thought this would work.

They were too different. Polar opposites. Vegan and Carnivore, Nature and Technology, Dour Goth to his Upbeat Techno-Geek. If not for Danny, their mutual friend, they might never have even spoken to each other at all.

But she was brave, brash, and kind; she had a way of picking him up when he fell down, making him smile on his worst days. They were both going through the same thing, both in school as outcasts, and on the battlefields, supporting Danny from the sidelines. She, more than anybody, understood.

Rivalry moved to friendship, and friendship trespassed into love - but he didn’t know it until the day his lips were pressed against hers.

Tucker never thought he could find common ground with Sam, much less that this could bloom into something more.
