Let's talk about Ken's business instincts. When we meet him, he's already spent at least three years working with his dad (think about how that must have been). We know he's been learning (because Logan mocked him for it), and spent a year in Shanghai.
When Logan gets sick Ken's the one thinking rationally about what is the best way to save the company, even if it also "serves his interests". And he saves the company (he couldn't know that Stewy would betray him). He was savvy during Pierce negotiations, helping to calm Connor etc. (and convinced Naomi!). He helped to ensure deal with Sandi and Stewy. GoJo was his idea.
Actually Ken makes the most cringy and bad business decisions when Logan berates him, and unfortunately, in consequence, Ken tries to emulate his dad to prove him that he's a killer that he would want him to be: bear hug (it looks like Ken decided to do it after realizing that his dad thought he was weak), the call with the bank, trash talking Lawrence, overpaying for Vaulter.
And yeah, Vaulter. I am in awe of the fact that Ken always kept his cool in front of Lawrence. He ignored his unprofessional and offensive behavior (he insulted him even when Ken tried to save them!), because he knew that Vaulter was a way to set company on the path to the future. Imagine Shiv or Roman pulling that - yeah right.
Ken has actually been working, he put in the hours, he was invested. He had good instincts and wanted to do good things. And Logan saw it, and felt threatened.
But - Ken is bad at human / business interactions, and that's his biggest weakness. He is always meandering between being himself (vulnerable, nice, awkward guy) and pretending to be: his father / cool / emotionless.
