Here we have the architectural equivalent of a very dry martini. This room features enough timber to construct a small schooner and a Fiddle Leaf Fig that has likely been judging the homeowners' conversational skills since the Eisenhower administration. Note the refreshing absence of a television; in 1953, "streaming content" meant staring into the roaring fire or gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows to make sure the neighbors weren't parking their Studebaker on your lawn. The furniture says, "I am stylishly uncomfortable," while the wall-to-wall moss green carpet suggests a brave commitment to vacuuming that modern society has long since abandoned.
