It’s not that Vasily never came across long hair. He had two sisters whose long locks were pride in the village.

The thing was you had this bun on your head. pretty normal hairstyle. and then you pulled this funny pin out. and whoosh almost rapunzel-style hair just cascading over your back.

And then you just roll it a few times and bun again.

That was a surprise. 

He is somehow impressed with your ability to tuck it away for practicality. If his is getting slightly too long and getting into his eyes he will get annoyed

Great drawing reference. A thousand attempts to catch the gleam when your hair rests on your shoulder. 

Tried to use your hair as a paintbrush at least once.

We all shed hair all the time. but with hair that long it's always way more visible. 

There is hair in his paint. Probably a few strands permanently intertwined with his paintings. And also his buttcrack. 

Will sometimes grumble something about hair being everywhere. But don't want you to cut it.

Will sigh about it taking more space in bed than he. But still will play with them in the morning before you wake up.

His eyes were not made for such weather. It was so damn bright and for what? Just to blind him the entire day? Vasily placed his Mosin-Nagnat within reach and made a room for himself on the blanket. The spring was still early and ground under the fabric cold. But it was nothing compared to sleeping on the forest floor during patrols. 

The grass was thick and soft. The thigh he plundered as a pillow was comfortable. The weather was finally warm enough to rest outside. But this damn sun. Hurting his eyes even with closed eyelids. Vasily lifted his head searching for some help and noticed the thick hair cascating over their shoulder. He rested back down and draped it over his eyes for extra cover.

[Y/N] stopped their whittling and looked down at him. Their blanket was conquered, their leg was getting numb from his big head pressing on their artery and now their hair was used as a sleeping mask. “You should be the one carving a new comb for me, you know?” They tossed before returning to their work.

Vasily didn’t even bother to look at them. He knew they were antsy. They were for the past few days since he broke their comb. His hands did swish and swoosh which meant >>I said I’m sorry.<<

“Your sorry did not glue my comb back together.” [Y/N] finished polishing the last teeth and checked their work. It was far from perfect but enough to work. They didn’t have time for any better tangles in their hair were driving them crazy. “Get up.” Vasily was kicked from his spot and handed the new comb with clear meaning. “Gently.”

Vasily tossed them a glare but obeyed. Gently was such a soft word, and yet it sounded like a warning this time. But he survived a brutal training of hair combing and knew the drill. It still was a work to do. Their hair was long. So long that when their shoulders slouched the ends scattered on the blanket. And despite excessive care, after a few days of fingers combing there were a few knots he had to work with. Any tugging was a death wish and cutting was out of the question. So he worked. Almost 2 meters of a sniper combing hair like a schoolgirl.

But he couldn’t complain much. Their hair was soft. The untangled parts slipped between his fingers like silk with soft gleam. The oils they used smelled nice. It was a familiar scent he got used to when glued to their back at night. The task was repetitive and soothing after a day of work. He was used to seeing them comb it every night. There was… some domestic calmness in such an act. When life was not about surviving nor killing. When they could just sit and take care of the things they loved.

Vasily finished the whole length and now each pass from the scalp all the way to the ends was smooth. He draped the final product over their shoulder for inspection. [Y/N] combed their now silky hair. The difference was monumental and a smile appeared on their lips. The annoyance vanished as their hair was back in its prime.
