When im on the bus going to work, I'll often brainstorm story ideas. But I also rest my eyes and sometimes nap on the bus. So I get stuck in these loops of brainstorming that start looping as I start dipping below wakefulness. Supper conversation with the family wandered onto the topic of: what if Laura Palmer had been The Slayer?
Presumably this would have led to slightly different circumstances for her death, but who knows? Maybe not. But then the next Slayer is called...and it's her cousin Madeline Ferguson.
We tried to decide who her Watcher would be. I mean, highly likely that Cooper is coming to town as her new Watcher, of course. But then: what if the Log Lady had been Laura's Watcher?
A quick search on AO3 turns up a couple of "Laura Palmer as the Slayer" fics, which is the kind of thing that always reassures me because surely somebody has come up with this idea before... Not precisely our vision, perhaps, since they seem to rest on Laura being resurrected to become the Slayer. Now I have to decide if I want to use any of my sparse gumption to try to write it myself...
