The Lost Boys: Marking
This one is a little different so bare with me please :) itâs also a tad more explicit? Nothing super graphic but it deals with darker themes
âââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Iâve done a head cannon on the boys and jewelry before, but wanted to expand. Like what if the jewelry their mateâs wear is less to do with âyou look really pretty when you wear thisâ ectâŠ.and more to do with an animalistic desire the boys have to signal territory?????? And how each one of the boyâs marks their own mate in different ways
I think it would also be interesting if Max required this as like a way to mitigate unnecessary conflict with other vampires/supernaturals too? Like itâs less about â this human is mine,â and more about managing potential conflict in Max eyes?
Let me know what you think! Iâm feeling inspired so I might add to this one!
Marko
- heâs choice of marking his s/o is by ear cuffs or bite marks like Iâve mentioned before
- I think this says a lot about him
- Ear cuffs stand out pretty instantly, and bite marks draw attention quickly
- Which I think is what Marko would want
- He wants people to immediately know that you are with him, and to stay away.
- When Max first introduced the concept of marking your mate/partner it was in direct result of Marko and his mate
- His mate had left with Laddie to go ride the roller coaster, and a rogue vampire showed up and wouldnât leave you and laddie alone
- Long story short, that rogue vampire ended up becoming obsessed with you and because you were not properly claimed or marked by another vampire you were considered fair game
- It took weeks to get the guy to leave Santa Carla, and Max wouldnât let the boys just kill him because apparently he had some strong connections in the vampire underground
- He caused mayhem every night before finally giving up on you and heading out
- Marko makes sure that you have a bite mark visible at all times now
- From then on Max made a rule about marking your mates properly
- And he WILL enforce it if he see one of the boyâs mates just wandering around with no mark
- I could see him grabbing you by the arm like an exasperated father and pulling you into his store
- And not letting you leave till one of the boys came and got you
Paul
- anklets
- Definitely not as noticeable
- So itâs weak signaling
- I think this is because heâs the newest vampire so heâs still learning why the boys do what they do
- He actually thinks itâs pretty outdated that Max enforces this too
- His a playboy, who favorite hobby is chasing his next lay, but he tells himself he is no misogynist
- People are free to do as they please no strings attached in his opinion
- But I think at his core, Paulâs just doesnât want the responsibility of a mate yet
- Paul also doesnât keep partners around long enough or take them seriously enough to give them a signifier anyways
- But when he does or if he does, it would be something as simple and unnoticeable as an anklet
- Because he doesnât like the practice and frankly doesnât want to understand it either
- This would frustrate Max, but I donât think he would say anything to David or him about it
- I think Maxâs mentality would be that Paul is just the type of guy who has to learn the hard way
- And that could be you wandering off, and being found by another vampire who canât read the weak ass signal/claim of the anklet and you get hurt or kidnapped
Dwayne
- I know I mentioned rings before
- And still think Dwayne would use a ring as a form of signaling, but I also see him as a very possessive and protective guy
- So just the ring was not going to cut it
- I think he would insist you wear the ring on the engagement finger
- And he would probably want you to wear a necklace?
- Like maybe a long, thin chain that ends in a claw matching his earring
- The claw would rest between your cleavage
- It kills two birds with one stone
- Its Something he doesnât mind looking at for one, lol
- And it is a very clear sign of belonging to any supernaturals around Santa Carla
- I mean how much clearer can you get?
- His symbol/call sign/mark whatever you what to call it, resting between your breasts? If that doesnât scream âmineâ I donât know what else will
- Dwayne understands the importance of the marker his s/o wears and he would not let you go anywhere with out it
- Within reason though
- I think if you were having a bad night and the whole âyou must be marked by a male for protection thingâ was really starting to get on your nerves he would try to compromise
- Well, his version of compromise
- You pick out one of his shirts and wear that, or you two stay in the cave for the night
- But leaving the cave with no marking at all is out of the question
- He can barley handle it when people look at you the wrong way, he doesnât know what he would do, or who he would kill if anyone tried to harm you
- Heâs definitely a âtouch her and you die.â type of man
David
- ah David
- The most toxic out of all the whole bunch
- Weâll, they all are toxic, blood thirsty vampires, but David tends to take things a step further
- You would wear the matching earring to his
- No debate
- No argument
- You. Will. Where. It
- If his s/o was human I think they would just humor him and wear the damn thing, especially at first
- You would think itâs funny how serious the boys get about their s/oâs jewelry and just think itâs an odd quirk of their group
- You might even think itâs kind of hot *wink wink* though you would never admit it out right to David because who knows what that man would do with info that deliciousâŠ.
- I mean, who would even notice any of this stuff anyways?
- Most humans donât notice a strangerâs eye color or what was on the shirt they were wearing
- No one is going to pay attention to such a small detail
- And your half right
- Most humans wouldnât notice a matching earring, the locals on the boardwalk might know whatâs going on , but thatâs because they been around the block before
- So the mate marking isnât so much about humans
- Itâs about other vamps, other beings who can pick up on subtle patterns and unspoken symbols
- They can read the subtle pack language the boys are speaking with the jewelry
- And most know to avoid it the moment they see it
- I like to think of it kind of like that old Victorian tradition of flower symbolism mixed with the mentality of âI licked it so itâs mine.â
- That woman that went off to grab some cotton candy? The one with the wire earring? She looks like an easy target at first , but upon closer inspection her earring matches that guys earring siting on the bike in the dark cornerâŠ..and oh fuck he just saw me! Got to run!
- David has no problem with the marking
- He likes it
- Your his until he decides your not anymore
- The only thing he hates about it, is that Max makes them do it
