#vampire cuphead

Cuphead was not wrong, someone was on the ship but it was not sally stage play, it was Y/N, a person studying the calix animi on the mainland but from what you were able to tell most of the information was at the island itself. So packing up what you had you moved to the island. Thankfully you have a few friends there so they were willing to let you sleep in their guest room. Looking down at your neck you pulled a gold chain out from under your shirt to look at what was on the end. On the end of the chain was a medallion with the writing “Calix animae et sanguis cordis.” you said as you ran your thumb over the medallion. The coat of arms looked as if it was encased in the maw of a wild animal and the colors on the top portion of the crest looked as if it was stained but with what you were never able to figure out what. But you took the medallion off and held it up with inkwell island in the background. “All of your secrets are there, I just know it!” you said with a smile on your face as you put the medallion back on and made sure that the chain was secured as you neared the island. Excitement filled your chest as you grabbed your hiking bag and slung it over your shoulders and ran to where the gangplank would be and as soon as it was set on the dock you ran off of it as if someone lit a fire under you. The first place you ran to were the ruins you read about in your books on the mainland but none of them mentioned what ‘Calix animae et uincula cordis’. Was or what it really meant, you know ‘Calix animae’ means cup of the soul but ‘et uincula cordis’ means something different but there is no clear translation of it. Or any record of it being part of the Calix But that just made you grin as you ran to the ruins that were within your sight. Inside of the ruins it was dark to a point you couldn’t see your hand. Grumbling you looked for your floating lantern only to groan when you didn’t find it, only to suddenly be blinded by some light. “Ack!” you yelped and fell backward as you rubbed your eyes to make the spotlights in your eyes go away. “Guess I did bring it..” you mumbled as you sat up, grabbed your backpack and pulled it close to pull the light out to set it next to you. “Alright time to do some research.” you said as you pulled a notebook out and then put the backpack back on before you started to look around. The ruins were dark and yet beautiful as you shone the light onto the statues, tapestries, and the murals. “Lets hope you guys know what this medallion is about…” you mumbled a bit as you looked around you but soon stopped when you heard a shuffling near you. Quickly you hid behind a statue and quickly turned your light off.

It was silent for a while till a light suddenly flashed in your face. ‘Ow! Hey!” you snapped as you covered your eyes. “Who are you and what are you doing here?” someone said from behind the light making you growl a bit. “I would answer if you get the light out of my face!” you snarled. But thankfully the other listened to you and pointed the flashlight towards the ground. When you were able to see again you looked at the toon in front of you. Cuphead had a look of annoyance as he looked at you. His combat boot tapped on the ground a bit. “Well?” he asked, making you stand up dusting yourself off. “Y/n, i just got here to the island.” you said but looked up as he groaned. “Great, so you're a tourist.” he said as you gawked at him. “Excuse me! No, I officially live here!” you said as you crossed your arms. “If you are new here then you know that it’s against island law to come here.” the toon said as he got close to you with a glare. You took a step back to fully observe him now. From what you can see he had a black tank top under a red short sleeved button up shirt that was opened with black jeans and from what you can tell he had a satchel slung over his shoulder. “W-well if it’s against the law then why are YOU here?” you asked as you stepped into him and jabbed your finger into his chest. With a bit of a growl he gently swatted your hand away from his chest. “There are things I need to look up here.” he said as he turned away. “You should get out of here before you get into trouble.” he said as he started to walk away and waved his free hand at you in a dismissive manner. Seeing that you were dismissed made your blood boil as you stormed over to him and made your stride match his. “You may have things to do here but so do I.” you growled at him and started to make your way down a hall.as you made your way down it your foot landed on a panel and with your weight made a clicking sound. Confused, you looked down and lifted your foot to see what you stepped on. But as you did you heard the toon gasp out “Watch out!” You felt it go across your face before you were able to see it. A giant ax blade had swung past you and the toon before going into the wall with a soft click. The trap was rest. You didn’t realize this but the toon had yanked you back and you both had fallen onto the ground, your back against the toon's chest as he took a deep breath. “Watch where you’re going!” he growled as he stood up and reached his hand out to you. “Cuphead, and just stick with me alright?” he said as you looked up at him and taking his hand he yanked you to your feet. “Got it… and Nice to meet you cuphead and thanks.” you said as you pointed your light at the panel you stepped on. “How many traps are there?” you asked as Cuphead started to move away from the hall. “Waay to many to count, me and my brother call that the hall of swinging axes, there is more than one down there.” he said as you jogged to catch up to him. “Ok, stay away from that hall.” you mused as you pointed your light in front of you.

As you two walked you made sure to take mental notes about what you saw but when you could you would stop cuphead so you can take some notes and a few sketches. But feeling Cuphead was getting a bit annoyed you stopped the sketches and just took notes when you could. “Soo…” you started to speak but you saw Cuphead’s shoulders tense up a bit. “What made you want to be here?” you asked as he looked at you confused. “I don’t live here.” he said, making you laugh a bit. “No, I mean why are you here in general? If it’s against island law why are you here?” you asked as he looked away a bit. “....Like you I am doing my own research.” his tone was cold and you could have sworn you saw his eyes flash a blood red, but you just thought it was a trick of the dark. “Oh?” you asked as your curiosity peaked. “But that's none of your business.” he said with a bit of a growl, the growl surprised you but you just rolled your eyes. “Ok ok fine, i was just asking.” you said as you saw another hall and pointed your light at it. “What’s down there?” you asked and that made cuphead stop in his tracks to look at where your light was. “Don’t know, I haven't been down there yet.” he said as he walked towards the hall and looked down the hall with his light. “Hmm…” humming a bit, cuphead started to walk down the hall making you run to catch up to him.

This hall was different from the others cuphead had seen, these showed alchemical symbols along with depictions of Calix soldiers fighting against something unknown.sadly  the murals were cracked and what the soldiers were fighting were lost to time. “Damn…” Cuphead said as he looked at the murals and a bit before looking at a pillar. “If only Mugs were here…” Cuphead mumbled to himself as you took the time to sketch what you saw. “Mugman?” you asked as you put your sketchbook away. “Ya my brother.” he said in a curt manner as he started to make his way down the hall. Making you run to follow him quickly. “So your brother?” you asked, making him glare at you over his shoulder. “Ya my brother, he’s currently not here.” he said as he stopped at a tapestry but he gritted his teeth seeing that it was torn. “He is on the mainland right now.” he said as you wrote about the tapestry in your notebook. “Why is he there?” you asked only to have him sigh heavily. “He is studying about something personal to him and me.” he said as he tried to cut the conversation short but that just made you want to know more. “Oh?” you asked  as Cuphead tried to ignore you. “Why are you and him so interested in this place? Is it because it’s part of your past?“ you asked as excitement grew in your voice but that only made Cuphead groan into his hand as he ran it down his face. “In a way yes but listen it is personal and we don’t need an outsider to know about it.” he retorted.

Hearing that you held your hand ups in defense. “Hey, I understand.” you said and when Cuphead looked back at you he saw you had a smile on your face. “It’s personal to you and him and it’s likely something you d-” as you stepped forward you somehow activated another trap, this time one that made the floor collapse under you and cuphead. You and him shared terrified looks as you fell and then everything went black. Your ears were ringing as you felt someone shake you and with a groan you slowly opened your eyes. As you do your vision cleared but soon you see a smiling Cuphead. “Hey there Y/n, welcome back to the world of the living.” he said in a joking manner making you laugh a bit before you sat up but soon hissed in pain and held your wrist. Seeing you in pain, cuphead knelt down to you, took your hand in his and examined it a bit before sighing. “From the looks of it you sprained your wrist.” He said as he let your wrist go and tore his shirt so he wrapped it with some pieces of wood and made a splint. “There, that should help till we get to the clinic.” he said as he helped you stand. “Thanks…” you said as you held your wrist.Cuphead just smiled at you and patted your shoulder. “No problem.” he said as he grabbed one of the flashlights and looked around with it. The area you two were in looked as if it was an old lab but it was hard to tell. But one thing that was certain there was the smell of copper, it was overwhelming. “Ugh… what is that smell…” you questioned as you covered your nose with your hands. Cuphead groaned as he covered his nose with his arm. “Blood…” was all he had to say. “Great we found an ancient murder scene…” you said as you got up but made sure to be careful with your wrist. “I think we found an old lab…” Cuphead said as he started to look around the area  as he did you made sure to stay close to him. “I wonder if any of the books are still intact…” you mused.

Hearing that a spark of hope light in cuphead’s chest as he walked over to the desk and as gently as he could he touched one of the books, and with a sigh at it not turning into dust he set the flashlight down and picked the book up to read it, but when he reached for the flashlight you had already grabbed it and was shining it in a way he could read the book. With a smile and a nod at you he started to gently turn the pages of the book. At first nothing sparked his interest till he saw an image of a creature biting onto a dish, and from the looks of it red was dripping from it as well and with a smile cuphead closed the book and gently put it into his bag before he moved onto the next one. What felt like hours to you he finished looking at all the books and only had a handful as well as some papers in his bag now. “Alright this should be enough.” he said as you nodded. “Got it and finally my arm was starting to get tired.” you said as you let your arm drop only to yell and hold your arm. “Hey you alr-” cuphead quickly covered his nose and mouth and took a few steps back away from you. ‘Shit.. ya i should be alright…” you said as you used the flashlight to look at the wound better.

Even from where cuphead was he could see the blood flowing freely till it dripped onto the ground. With each drop of blood cuphead’s knees started to shake as he started to drool a bit. ‘I need to get away from them…’ cuphead thought as he turned to run but stopped. ‘Damn it i can’t… I lead them down here and I need to lead them back…’ as he was in his head trying to hold himself back you looked at him confused but that confusion turned into concern when you saw Cuphead drop onto the ground. Quickly you ran to him. “Hey you ok?” you asked as you held your bleeding hand out to him to help him up. Cuphead didn’t react as he stared at the blood on your hand and seeing that look you pulled your hand away and tried to hide it. “Sorry! I didn’t know you were afraid of b-”

You squealed as the item headed toon got close to you, holding your shoulders tightly as he pressed his forehead against it. You can tell something was wrong with him as you gently rubbed his back trying to comfort him. “Hey… i’m sorry i didn’t know you we-” that was when you felt it, a searing pain as you felt teeth plunge into your neck. Your whole body went numb as the toon wrapped his arms around you and held you tightly against him as he dropped to his knees clinging onto you. not once letting you go as he gulped down your blood. You tried to push him away but due to your wrist being injured and your energy quickly being sapped it was a weak push against him. “C…cuphead…. Stop…please” you said weakly as your vision started to go dark once again.

But all cuphead was able to do was drink deeply from your neck as tears started to fall. He didn’t want to give into hunger…. But not feeding from the time he was turned he was close to starving. Reaching up he put his hand on the back of your head as he pulled away with a gasp, his mouth red from drinking, and with a lick of his lips and his fangs he moved to the other side of your neck and bit down.

making you whimper in the process in a last attempt you pushed at him once again, but due to the blood loss your hand weakly slid off of his arm. As the blood ran down your neck and chest it finally touched the medallion and let out a faint glow. At first you thought it was just your vision going red as you tried to muster up the energy once again to push him away.

“Cuphead… stop…” you weakly said and that was when the glowing got brighter to a point that cuphead had to pull away to see where the light was coming from and that was his mistake and your blessing. At him pulling away that was when the light practically pushed him away from you and gripped onto his wrists. “T-the hell is going on!” he yelled as the light wrapped around his wrists and went up his arms, making intricate markings that went up to his shoulders as if they were tattoos.

When the light faded he sat up and glared at the faint glowing that was coming from them but his attention was quickly drawn to you, he could hear your heartbeat in his head and it was faint. With wide eyes he quickly ran to you and held you up. "Hey! y/n! Come open your eyes!” he said as the glowing soon snaked its way up to your neck and in a sweeping motion the wounds on your neck were healed and the blood had stopped.
