Before Abolish's final breakdown stream a lot of people theorized the reason Abolish was still alive by 2006 was because the cure didn't fully work, v!Abolish saying he felt "a little more hardy" because there was still "a little bit of vampire blood" in him (vsmp Abolish ep8). He assumed a night rest and time would siphon it out and all would be fine. Next thing we know it's early 2000 New York and other than his Cruella De Vil look he seems nearly exactly the same.

It's not a bad theory, and in fact one Martyn would be proud of- taking a game mechanic mistake and making it an important plot point.

Sadly it's not so. cc!Abolsih already had it set in his mind before the final that if Abolish survived (a very small if. This sweat did everything his skilled strategic mind could to be the final girl!) the shadow organisation would figure out a way to make v!Abolish immortal without vampiric downsides... and more importantly- no paperwork.

And while this lore will certainly make for some fascinating stories and theory posts as fans work out how the organisation went about this and how v!Abolish handled it... I'm still clinging on to v!Abolish being immortal because of the Oakhurst cure.

There are many reasons for this:

the doctors lineage living on in Abolish's very blood (and every vampire he helps, every person he saves, every violent bitter soul unwilling to change he ends can ease the memory of a doctor who desperately wanted redemption and to believe people- no matter who they were- could change).

Oakhurst having a deeper impact on Abolish then he would ever want to admit.

The trauma allegory and the idea that there is no such thing as a cure to bring you back to what you once were (there are always consequences even with healing).

The simple cleverness of taking a janky code flaw into a pivotal part of the characters lore.

And- most importantly... PAPERWORK!

Im sorry. It is just the absolute funniest freaking idea that Abolish did everything he could to get out of paperwork only to end up with more paperwork! And worst of all- he got to feel the euphoria of freedom, of dodging the dreaded stuff, only to a few weeks or months or years later stare into a fuzzy mirror with white strands of hair and unaging face and just face slam into the counter with despair.
