Hours in the Moonlight: Rose Red Dawn - 29. Arm-in-Arm
Summary: Sometimes it felt like things ended in a way that was remarkably similar to how they started. That was certainly true for this evening as you finally broke free of Crowley and found your way in the world of the night. It had started with Vil by your side, and now here you were, ready to take the next step with him still right beside you. Though he was, perhaps, a touch closer than he had been at the start of all this.

Hours in the Moonlight Master-List
Crowley’s smugness didn’t last long, though, as a frown reappeared on his face once more, and he shook his head. “There is still the problem of your dwindling time, though….”
He trailed off as I frowned at him, not liking where this heading untilI heard someone walk over.
I barely turned in time to see Vil stop next to me, his arms crossed as he stood tall with a perfect frown on his face that brooked absolutely no argument as he stared Crowley down, “And the fact that they don’t have to work directly under you.”
I blinked at his words, my surprise matching Crowley’s even as Vil continued to gaze at him. Perfectly unimpressed despite the fact he was the leader of one of the clans under Crowley.
But then Vil always had seemed impossible to control to me. Rather, he walked his own path with his head held high.
I felt myself smile slightly at the thought of it, realizing that even now I fully trusted Vil and whatever it was he was about to say.
We were close enough now that he didn’t have to tell his plans ahead of time, just like I didn’t have to notify him. I could trust him and follow his lead even without it.
“It seems to me that they’ve not just won over all of the clans you’re supposed to watch over and done your job of cleaning your mess for you, but also won over your men.” As he spoke, Vil gestured to the side where Sam, Crewel, Trein, and Vargas stood.
I looked towards the men to see them all smiling at me, and, after a brief moment of surprise, I felt myself smile back.
Because Vil was right. Despite all my caution and wariness with them simply because they worked for Crowley, these men had only ever helped me.
Almost at once I recalled what Azul had mentioned to me, and I felt my gaze drift his way only to find him smiling smugly back at me before winking playfully. But suddenly his words made complete and utter sense.
While I could be Crowley’s greatest weapon, I could also be his greatest foe.
I’d quite possibly just become the worst thing that could have ever happened to the head-vampire of this district.
A vampire hunter that could stand on my own two feet and who had befriended not only all of the clans under him but also won over his lackeys.
I looked back towards Crowley, who met my gaze almost the very instant I looked his way.
I stepped closer to him, realizing that this time I had all of the vampires behind me while he had no one with him. I’d gone from just the Pomefiore clan, to all of the clans and Crowley’s own men.
“I’ll keep working as the vampire hunter in this district, and I’ll work with your men, but I’m not going to be your personal vampire hunter anymore,” I paused, gauging his reaction before I continued.
“I will help you keep the vampires hidden, though…” I trailed off, not quite confident enough to admit out loud that I was only doing so to protect those important to me. Not when several of those people were right behind me and Vil was watching me quite so closely.
I would get there someday, but not tonight. And even if my hours in the moonlight were dwindling, I still had a long way to go before my time was fully up.
And who knew what might happen? I might change my mind and decide to become a vampire just to stay with Vil. I couldn't see the future after all. If I could, then my entire experience of entering this world of vampires might have gone a bit differently.
But I could say that even if that had been the case, one thing I wouldn’t change would be the way I befriended everyone. And the fact that it had all started with Vil.
I glanced over at Vil, smiling slightly before I looked back towards Crowley, who was frowning slightly before he at last nodded, “Very well then. Since I am so very gracious, I agree.”
He paused before a wide smile crossed his face, and he spread his arms like he was expecting a hug from me, “Besides, every hatchling must someday fly the nest!”
I almost grimaced at his words as I stepped away from him as Vil shifted between us with a disgusted expression.
I ignored the way Crowley’s expression fell slightly at my silent rejection of his affection, “If that’s all….”
I trailed off as he cleared his throat awkwardly, nodding slightly, “Ah, yes. Though I thought you might want to stay and enjoy the festivities.”
I glanced at Vil, who met my gaze, and I smiled before shaking my head, “No… I actually thought it might be nice to head home for the evening.”
Vil’s smile matched mine as he nodded. Holding out his arm that I easily looped mine through as we turned to go before I waved at all the others, watching as some rolled their eyes while others looked at each other knowingly, “I’ll see you guys later.”
“Take care Y/n!” Kalim waved happily as most of the others watched us with perfectly amused glances as we left. Strolling arm-in-arm for the door.
They would tell the rest where we went, and I doubted Rook and Epel would even be surprised. After all, in the end it seemed like I always ended up with Vil, just like how I’d inevitably let him into my life after our rather shaky first meeting.
And as for what lie ahead of us… Well, that would come night-by-night, and I would take it all step-by-step. Because despite poor first impressions, the world of the night wasn’t so bad, and with Vil by my side, I could certainly see myself enjoying every single hour I had in the moonlight.
“So what now, Tater tot? You bested the head-vampire of our district, won over all of the clans, and resolved our troubles…” Vil trailed off as he glanced my way with a smile as I grinned.
“Well, successful vampire hunter or not, I am still rather danger-prone….” I trailed off playfully, looking his way with a wide grin as I nudged him with a shoulder as he shook his head as we walked through the doors and out into the night.
He shifted, letting go of me to grab his cape and wrap it around my shoulders, pulling me up closer against his side as he grinned at me. His fangs barely slipping into view as his eyes glittered with amusement, “Well, I suppose I can still hide you if any scary ghosts come by.”
I snickered at his teasing, leaning against him playfully before looking up at him, “Thanks, Vil.”
His smile softened slightly as we paused, and he nodded down at me, “Think nothing of it, Tater tot.”
We paused, with me looking up at him silently as we smiled at one another before he leaned down and kissed me. Affection slipping easily between us until he pulled away and started forward into the night once more.
We walked on in silence, with his arm draped over my shoulders like we weren’t a vampire and a vampire hunter. But in the end, I hadn't lied to Leona at all.
People would believe what they wanted to, and this time they might not be quite so wrong, though I still wasn’t enthralled by Vil by any means.
Bluntly put, he didn’t need to enthrall me for me to want to stay with him. And we both knew that.
So for now, I would wait for the next rose-red dawn to come with Vil by my side as the hours stretched on out in front of us.

You, Crowley, are connected to A roleplayer
Your partner doesn't mind all ages or 18+ roleplay
Your common tags are ineffable husbands
Crowley: [vampire!Crowley, any!Aziraphale, can be Ineffable Husbands or Wives, est/unest, just let me know what you prefer! Aziraphale doesn't know about Crowley's condition just yet] [3:00am] Are you awake, angel? C
Your starter has been read
A roleplayer: [Human! Aziraphale, husbands, and hm let’s go est!] Yes, I’m still awake, dear. Is everything alright? A
Crowley: Everything's fine. Just stuff on my mind. C Hopefully I didn't wake you. C
A roleplayer: What sort of stuff? A You didn’t! I’m up reading a book. I couldn’t get to sleep myself either. A
Crowley: Oh, you'd call me mad, I'm sure of it. C What are you reading? C
A roleplayer: I highly doubt that, dear. Tell me? A It’s a lovely romance book I was recommended by Nina. A
Crowley: Soon, angel. C What sort of romance is it? C
A roleplayer: Alright.. A It’s about faeries and supernatural beings, it’s very interesting. The main couple had a lot of strange tension in the first story, they only get together at the end of the second book! A
Crowley: Hm, never expected you to read those sorts of stories. C How are you liking it so far? C
A roleplayer: Why not? I’ll read most genres. A I’m really liking it. I find the character that the main character is falling in love with very interesting. A
Crowley: Well, you've consistently seemed drawn to the classics. Then again, you have a point. C What's so interesting about the love interest, then? C
A roleplayer: That is true. The classics do tend to draw me in more. But this has.. I don’t know. A certain charm that’s really got me hooked. A He’s this tall, dark, broody sort of character. He’s dangerous, and everyone knows that. Including the protagonist. And yet.. he’s very gentle with her. Very kind, even if he’s sarcastic. He obviously cares more than he likes to let on. He has a very interesting backstory too. He’d kill for any one in his close circle. A
Crowley: Hm, is it conceited to say I can see why he's piqued your interest? C
A roleplayer: Haha, no it’s not. I’ve sort of been picturing him as you. A
Crowley: So.. if there were an element of danger about me, that wouldn't put you off? C
A roleplayer: I don’t think anything could put me off from you. A
Crowley: Not even if supernatural beings were actually a thing? C
A roleplayer: […] No, I don’t think so. A
Crowley: And if I were one, that wouldn't scare you? C
A roleplayer: I suppose that could depend on what you were, haha. Why are you asking? A
Crowley: Just curious. C What if I were something spooky? C
A roleplayer: You’re not very spooky to me. A I don’t think it’d change anything for me, to be quite honest. I’m already so in love with you, dear. A
Crowley: I love you too, y'know. C So, if I were something like a vampire? C
A roleplayer: I know. :) A Hm. Vampires are… interesting. A I’d have a hard time believing those things truly exist. But if you were, that’d be okay. A
Crowley: What is it about them for you? C
A roleplayer: There’s something very.. I don’t know. A The idea of vampires have always drawn me in, I suppose. A
Crowley: Well, I guess with various portrayals in media, they've been glamourised. C So it makes sense. C
A roleplayer: Well yes, they have been glamorized quite a bit. A What with stories like ‘Twilight’, ha. A But I fear I may just be more attracted to the ‘darker’ things. Vampires do seem quite spooky. And yet.. The things the vampires must have seen, living for so long, what travelling or learning they’ve done. Are they sincerely only interested in blood? Or do they have other passions? A Not to mention all the main stereotypes like garlic and stakes and coffins. A
Crowley: [...] I'm sure there are some tall tales here and there. And realistically, anyone who's only interested in blood after centuries and centuries would be terribly boring. C
A roleplayer: I’m sure there are. And that would be very true. A I do think that most myths must have had some basis for them, at least the very, very old ones. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible for things like vampires to exist. But not very probable. A
Crowley: [...] What if I told you it's incredibly probable? C
A roleplayer: I would like some proof then, ha. A
Crowley: I can do that. Would you be up for me coming over? C
A roleplayer: [..] Sure. Always. :) A
Crowley: I'll be there in just a bit then. C
A roleplayer: Sounds good. I’m in my room, reading still. But I’ll go unlock the door. A
Crowley: As long as I'm welcome, I'll let myself in. C
A roleplayer: Of course you are. A
Crowley: Then I'll see you soon, angel. C
A roleplayer: See you soon, my love. A
Crowley: It wasn't long after that Crowley pulled up to the pavement at Aziraphale's place and climbed out of the jet-black Bentley. In all his time, he'd seldom let himself get close to anyone. Knowing it was safer for everyone involved if he kept to himself, took care of his needs without drawing attention, and moving on. Keeping himself untethered as time went on and faces came and went. However, all that changed when he'd first crossed paths with Aziraphale. And with how things had blossomed between them, he deserved to know the truth. Especially with the reality of how time moved with him. Crowley drew in a breath as he let himself in, certain if he still had a beating heart, that it would be hammering away within his chest as he made his way inside. He soon arrived at Aziraphale's bedroom door, and gave a couple gentle knocks on the door before slowly pushing it open. "Hey there, angel," he greeted with a small smile on his lips, finding even the sight of the man all cozy in bed was enough to soften the nerves he felt, the anticipation of what the other would do with the proof he had to offer.
A roleplayer: To say Aziraphale was intrigued by whatever Crowley had to say or show him as proof of vampires existing, supposedly that he was one as he had asked, well that was saying the least. He thought it may have just been some joke, but Crowley asking to come over.. Well that had pulled his attention away from the book he was reading. He could barely focus enough to finish up the chapter he was on, to have a good stopping point for the night. He’d loved Crowley practically since the moment they met. He was very dark and possibly scary looking to others, but so very kind and loving with him. He only got to love him more and more as he got to know him. He couldn’t help but think that even if Crowley was a vampire, well.. it wouldn’t change much, would it? They would still be exactly as they are, right? He sat up a bit more once he heard Crowley’s voice, smiling warmly at him. His face was flushed and he patted the spot next to him on the bed immediately. “Hello, dear,” he murmured, cocking his head to the side.
Crowley: Crowley smiled a bit wider as he saw the blush in Aziraphale's cheeks, how eagerly he invited him in. He took that invitation, the warmth in the other man's expression enough to put his worries at ease, and he sauntered over to the side of the bed and laid down next to his love. He had to wonder if Aziraphale ever had his suspicions after all this time, though the other didn't seem to mind in the slightest, and once he was closer, no major upticks in his heart rate that he could detect. "So," he began as he lay on his side facing the other man. "You mentioned you wanted proof. What would you like to see first?" he asked curiously as he offered the other a playful grin. He had been one to play harmless pranks every once in again, so there was every chance Aziraphale suspected him of those antics. Even though much of what he had to offer would be concrete.
A roleplayer: Aziraphale grinned fondly at him as Crowley climbed into the bed with him, facing him. He looked him over, curious, searching. For what though, he couldn’t be quite sure. He didn’t know what of vampire lore would be real or not. Sure, Crowley was very pale, and cold. But then again, lots of people, especially if skinny like Crowley were pretty cold most of the time. So that could be written off pretty easily. He gave a soft hum in consideration at his question. The playful grin on Crowley’s face did nothing to help his suspicions that this was all some sort of prank. But he’d treat it as serious for now. Why not indulge him? It was fun, if nothing else, he supposed. He turned more towards him, biting the inside of his cheek. “Hm.. do you have fangs?” He asked with a small laugh.
Crowley: "Going right for the money!" Crowley teased with a grin as let out a chuckle. Figures, Aziraphale would go for the thing that would be unmistakable. After all, so many imitations of fangs were easily spotted as fake, so it made sense that the other wanted to make absolutely certain that this wasn't some elaborate joke. He carefully retracted his fangs, his clearly pointed as he still smiled back at Aziraphale. You can touch them if you'd like, but just be careful," he gently warned. "They're sharp, and I do have venom. Not a deadly kind, per se, but it does have an affect on people..."
A roleplayer: Aziraphale laughed softly, giving a small shrug at that. Of course it would be the first thing, probably the most concrete evidence he could see. So he watched Crowley’s smile and his eyes widened as he watched his fangs retract, his breath hitching in his throat. That had to be real. There was no way that was- He caught his breath again and reached over to touch them, very carefully grazing the pad of his finger over the sharp end of them. He pulled back, giving him a curious look. “An effect on people?” He repeated softly, then reaching to feel his neck, feeling for a pulse but felt none. “What effect does it have then, if not deadly?”
Crowley: "Wouldn't do us any good to just kill people, would it?" Crowley reasoned, careful to keep his head still while Aziraphale examined his fangs. "And it depends a bit from person to person. For some, it can act like an aphrodisiac, but for most people, it relaxes them, makes them feel mildly sedated. High, drunk, somewhere in there. But all in all, it's not unpleasant. Just don't want you pricking your finger and then having to explain all that," he explained as he leaned a bit into Aziraphale's touch, even if he was clearly looking for his non-existent pulse.
A roleplayer: Aziraphale hums softly, “So.. you don’t- kill people?” He asked curiously, swallowing. He nodded as Crowley explained the effect vampires venom has on people, even though everything he said only had him wondering more and more about it. He was sure he’d have questions for days about this. But it didn’t seem that Crowley would mind answering them. He smiled, after not finding the non-existent pulse, he just trailed his hand up to cup his face, brushing his thumb over his cheek gently. “I wonder.. what it would be like for me,” he muttered quietly, leaning up onto his elbow. “I have seen you eat human food before though. Not much. But you have,” he commented.
Crowley: Crowley shook his head slightly. "The times when I did, I didn't want to for one, but also they were very different times in general," he offered as he looked up at him. "Nowadays, there's blood banks, which a lot of us have special connections with to take the more under-utilised blood types. And with the draw to vampirism in general, there are even special clubs some go to in order to feed. Willing donors will offer themselves, and vampires will take just what they need. A lot of times, the donors even have an agreement where if they donate so many times, they can get turned themselves. And some have trusted confidantes that are willing to give more privately." He couldn't help but admire that inquisitive glint in Aziraphale's gaze, which brought a smile to his lips. "Though some of us will also have food, to blend in if anything. Just won't sustain us like blood does."
A roleplayer: Aziraphale raked his fingers through Crowley’s hair slowly, listening to him, taking in every detail that he could. It didn’t sound too bad then. No wonder he didn’t know they really existed, there’s no reports ever of people found dead, drained of blood. Though maybe some just covered it up. He wasn’t sure. He smiled back at Crowley, happy to listen and still show him affection, in assurance that he was not scared off by this like he worried about. “Interesting.. I suppose those donors get quite hooked onto that effect, hm? Almost like being addicted to drugs,” he mused. “That does make sense. Which do you prefer to do? Donors or blood bags?” He asked then added, “Have you turned anyone before?”
Crowley: "Oh, there are standards to avoid anyone getting too carried away. Just like when you give blood at hospital, or some blood drive, you gotta wait a certain amount of time before going again. With private donation, it can be a little more flexible, but it's still important to listen to your body." Crowley laughed a bit at the consecutive questions asked, but he didn't expect anything less of Aziraphale. "Honestly, depends on my mood. And sometimes blood banks have shortages, so it's better to stay flexible. Though I've also never turned anyone. I'm familiar with the process and all, but I've kept myself distant from most people throughout my existence. At least until now."
A roleplayer: Aziraphale hummed, sitting up to grab his water, taking a sip as he thought over Crowley’s words, how the process all worked. He wondered how many humans knew about this, how many offered themselves up. What sort of relationships have vampires and humans had before? He didn’t want to leave Crowley at all, he loved him so dearly. But he would die eventually. “How old are you anyway?” He asked, setting down his cup and turned back towards him, pushing his blanket off. “Why until now? What’s.. so different with me?” He inquired, blushing lightly. “Would you? Turn.. someone? Have you considered it at all?” He was quite sure Crowley knew exactly what he was getting at. But no, he wouldn’t ask him to turn him. Not right now anyhow. He’d have to think about it. But he’d like to know if it’d be an option for him, for them.
Crowley: "Oh, of course you're gonna bring up age!" Crowley laughed. Though there was definitely an age gap. A considerable age gap, and as much as Aziraphale should know, he also wanted to have a bit of fun with that. "I'll tell you, but I wanna hear your guesses first. As for why now, I dunno. There's this whole bit of lore that something clicks when a vampire finds their mate, like soulmates and all. But honestly, you're so genuine, and charming, and kind, not to mention handsome... And thus I couldn't stop myself from falling for you. And maybe, when we reach the point of actively planning to spend the rest of our lives together, like marriage and all, I'd be honoured if you'd consider it, but it's your choice whether you'd like to be turned or not."
A roleplayer: [Be right back!]
A roleplayer: Aziraphale laughed softly, shaking his head. “I don’t mind how old you are, even if you are ancient,” he teased gently, grinning. “I’m just curious. I want to know everything, Crowley. You mean a lot to me, much more than you know.” He brushed his fingers through his own hair, looking at him. “150?” He guessed, watching his face. He smiled fondly, “You think I’m your soulmate or mate or whatever?” He leaned in to kiss his forehead. “I’m considering it,” he nodded, “I will let you know. I feel like I should hear more about it all before making any hard decisions,” he explained. “But just know that I’m not scared or put off in any way. Okay?”
Crowley: Crowley couldn't help a small smile at the way he felt the warmth of Aziraphale's lips practically radiate through his body from his forehead. Not to mention the fact that Aziraphale not only wasn't perturbed by the whole idea of his nature, but to know he was thinking about the idea of being turned? He nearly pinched himself to be sure he wasn't dreaming. "Eh, bit older than that," he answered as he rested a hand on Aziraphale's waist as he met those gorgeous blue eyes before he pondered his actual age for a moment. "Calendars have changed so much over time... Oh, call it six-thousand, give or take..."
A roleplayer: Aziraphale couldn’t be sure if Crowley thought him insane or not, for truly not minding his nature, or for already considering being turned to stay with him forever. But if he was insane for that, then so be it. He’d never loved anyone as much as he loved Crowley. And it sounded as though Crowley felt the same way for him. In that case.. he felt as though he couldn’t leave him, even in death. But of course he wouldn’t rush into that. He melted into his touch happily, even though his eyes went wide when Crowley had to guess his age. Six thousand. He let out a small, surprised laugh. “Six thousand??” He repeated, shaking his head. “My goodness,” he mused. “I really am quite lucky, hm? Six thousand years and you’ve never let anyone close until me..”
Crowley: Crowley blinked at that response. There was clearly a small amount of shock, but almost immediately, Aziraphale's response was to think of how by some luck, they still managed to find each other, and the vampire could just about melt at that. "C'mon, I'm the lucky one for finding you," he reasoned with a small smile as he shifted closer to Aziraphale, gently pulling him closer as he playfully bumped noses with him. It really wasn't until he'd met Aziraphale that he realised just how lonely his whole existence had been, and regardless of what the other's decision might be one day, he wanted to spend as much of it as he could with him.
A roleplayer: Aziraphale blushed softly, laughing as Crowley pulled him closer and bumped noses with him. “No no, I’m the lucky one,” he argued even still, letting out a content sigh. He was, or at least he believed he was. “All of that is- frankly irrelevant in regards to how I feel about you. I love you.. And I’m so grateful we found each other. I don’t know what I’d do without you, truly,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to the tip of Crowley’s nose, reaching up to cup his face once again. “Hm- another question, which you may grow quite tired of. How often do you need to feed?”
Crowley: "Love you too, angel. More than anything," Crowley replied, a warm shiver running through him at the peck Aziraphale gave the tip of his nose. "Though I could never tire of your questions, honestly. I can get by on a small feeding maybe once a week or so. If I need something more, that's when I might go for a blood bag, or some donor, and that can get me by for a little longer in between."
A roleplayer: Aziraphale grinned, brushing his thumb over Crowley’s cheek affectionately. “Well.. good, because I have many, many questions. I won’t ask them all now, but,” he shrugged, trailing off. “How long has it been now since you last fed?” He moved in closer, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. He was never quite good at hiding his thoughts or feelings, he knew Crowley could always see right through him. He wanted to know what it felt like, plus it’d be a win-win.
Crowley: Crowley couldn't help a soft chuckle, as he could take a guess as to what was on Aziraphale's mind by his latest question and body language. "It's been a bit," he admitted with a small shrug. "Could probably have a little something, but only if you want to. Won't need to take much, if that's the case..."
A roleplayer: Aziraphale blushed deeply at the chuckle, ducking his head, well aware that Crowley knew what he meant. He nodded, “I do.. I want to,” he murmured, meeting his gaze again. He wondered if Crowley was only saying that to indulge him since he was curious, or if he really did need some. Either way, he was eager to let him feed from him.
Crowley: Crowley smiled softly in return. "Then just relax and enjoy yourself, angel," he purred, soon leaning in to close the gap between them and kissing him tenderly. After a moment, he let his lips trail along Aziraphale's jaw, taking his time as he slowly kissed his way down to his neck.
A roleplayer: Aziraphale smiled and gave a nod, kissing him back softly. He hummed into the kiss then tilted his head to the side instinctively as he felt Crowley’s lips trail down, breathing deeply in anticipation, enjoying the soft kisses for now though, shuddering at the feeling.
Crowley: Crowley went until he could feel the steady, just slightly-heightened thrum of Aziraphale's carotid. He then placed one more soft, loving kiss over the spot he'd chosen before he sank his fangs into his skin, quickly enough that the other would barely feel a pinch. He sighed as he tasted Aziraphale's blood across his palate. Smooth, decadent. Lovely, much like the man in his arms.
A roleplayer: Aziraphale gasped softly at the slight pinch, expecting much more pain than that, at least at the first time of feeling his fangs sink in. His eyes squeezed shut for a moment before he relaxed again, his head dropping to the side, letting out a soft sigh in almost bliss.
Crowley: Crowley could see himself getting absolutely carried away if he wasn't careful. Aziraphale was the best thing he'd ever tasted- well, person. He pulled back after a brief moment, keeping to his word as he carefully coaxed the two punctures closed with a swipe of his tongue. "How was that for you?" he asked softly as he met the other man's gaze, taking in his blissful expression.
A roleplayer: Aziraphale knew immediately that he would offer himself as a donor to Crowley again, probably whenever he’d needed. It felt.. wonderful, he had no words for it. He blushed deeply, smiling shyly and nodded, “Good.. very- feels like I’m a little lightheaded but in a good way,” he laughed quietly, leaning in to kiss his lips.
Crowley: Crowley smiled fondly against his lips, holding him close as he kissed his love back. "Yeah, that sounds about right," he mentioned between kisses as he leaned in to meet Aziraphale's lips once more. "Thank you," he whispered once they parted, giving him a grateful smile.
A roleplayer: Aziraphale laughed softly, kissing the tip of his nose again, shaking his head. “Thank you for indulging me,” he whispered back, snuggling into him. “Anytime,” he added on with a grin. “I can see why those donors do that all the time.. It really does feel nice.”
Crowley: "I'm glad to hear it," Crowley replied as he kept Aziraphale close, enjoying the warmth of having him near. "Though I'm definitely the one who's been indulged," he added with a hum. "And I greatly appreciate it, my lovely, wonderful angel." He kissed his temple softly as he stroked his back gently, ultimately relieved at how Aziraphale not only accepted him, but fully embraced who and what he was.
OK so I got permission from @ovfanart 's to post this. Idk if I'll ever color it tho cause I don't want to mess it up 😅 Anyways, this is the original image:

I crossed my arms lightly as I eyed Crowley, waiting for him to talk as he stared back at me.
He wore a wide smile on his face as he stepped around his desk. But his opening words definitely weren’t what I’d expected from our conversation for tonight.
“Have you been enjoying the ball, hatchling?”
I blinked, frowning slightly at his words, before I felt myself nod slowly, “I suppose.” As I spoke in a perfectly wary tone, I scanned the room. Almost as if I were searching for any hidden traps.
It was beyond odd that he didn’t have Trein, Crewel, or even Vargas in here with him, and their notable absence only made me more suspicious than I’d already been.
Because while I’d talked to Crowley one-on-one before, that wasn’t what I’d expected from tonight. Especially since I’d finished my job, and I had no doubts Crewel had already given him the report about Heartslabyul.
I figured they’d all be present and I would receive my next orders. After all, they all worked for him, or at least that was my understanding.
And I hadn’t seen any of them in the ballroom either, which led to one very simple question.
If they weren’t here, where were they?
Crowley nodded, a smile ever present on his face as he watched me calmly, “Good, good. I had hoped you would since I called you here with a proposition that will make your life easier, since I am so very gracious.”
I felt my eyebrows arch at his words as I looked back his way. Perfectly unable to believe that this man could ever do something to make my life easier, but I stayed silent. Waiting for whatever was to come next as he rested one hand on his desk. Somehow keeping his claw-tipped gloves from digging into the wood they rested on.
“You have done much for our world of the night and, of course, deserve a reward,” He started off in a characteristically grandiose tone, but I felt myself frown at his words. Already not liking where this was heading.
Because something told me that Crowley’s view of what a reward might be was wildly different from mine.
Especially since, frankly speaking, him leaving me alone was probably the best reward he could ever hope to give me.
“You seem to have become close to us, denizens of the night. But for you, these hours in the moonlight grow scarce….” He trailed off slightly, one clawed finger resting against his chin in an almost thoughtful manner as I felt myself tense at his words. Somehow already knowing where he was going with this even as he continued, “Should you wish it, your time can be prolonged, though, if you simply shun the rose-red dawn of the life you know and delve fully into the night. I will of course assist you in this since I am so very-”
My hands clenched at my sides, and I shook my head, interrupting him mid-monologue as I openly glared at him, “You are not turning me into a vampire.”
Silence stretched between us in a perfectly condemning way as his expression, or at least what I could see of it, turned flat at my refusal. A shift that made me wonder how long he’d been plotting this.
Perhaps since our first meeting? Or maybe even before that….
But despite my words, I couldn’t deny that I had considered the possibilities.
Becoming a vampire would make it far easier for me to stay with Vil and my other friends. Because even as a vampire hunter, I knew my future as a mortal part of the undead world of vampires was shaky at best.
One bad encounter and I could die, and that would be it. Such was the life of a vampire hunter. Being turned into a vampire was, in a great many ways, the best outcome I could hope for.
And, becoming a vampire was really the only surefire way for me to stay with everyone and not lead a life fraught with risk.
But becoming a vampire was also a big step to take. It would essentially mean ending my life, and I had no doubt that it would be an incredibly painful experience. In fact, to be honest, I really didn’t see how it couldn’t be painful. After all, Vil had only bitten me for a short period of time, but it had hurt and hadn’t even involved me coming back as a member of the undead masses.
And, bluntly put, becoming a vampire seemed so very final. Almost like a last-ditch effort rather than a first choice.
It was true that I had numerous friends who were vampires, and I’d learned the long and hard way that vampires were not innately evil in any way despite the horrible things they could do.
Besides, anyone, even the most average person on earth, could do horrible things.
But would it be so wrong to stay with Vil as I was? A simple human who just happened to be involved with vampires by a series of frankly absurd and unfortunate events?
I knew it was selfish when not becoming a vampire now was really just putting off my inevitable death, but a terrible part of me continually asked me if that was so bad? Was being selfish about my own life so wrong?
I’d been avoiding vampires biting me and attacking me for so long and then I’d been forced into being a vampire hunter, so would one bit of selfishness for myself be wrong?
I knew for a fact Vil would support me completely, even if it meant I would die long before him.
Indeed, the only point that made me even slightly ponder vampirism with any real true interest was the fact that I would end up leaving Vil behind one day. But he wouldn’t be alone. It was just that I couldn't precisely decide if it was overly selfish to do so.
Either way, though, I knew one thing was for certain. If I did become a vampire, it definitely wasn’t going to be at Crowley’s hands. Because by now I knew exactly what he actually wanted.
“I’ve been doing your dirty work and handling this entire insane vampire mess when you already knew the root cause. I’m not going to become a vampire just because you want to use my connections with each of the clans to make your life easier.”
My words were snapped, and I actually stepped closer to him, closing the distance between us, as I spoke.
And in reality, my guess had been a wild shot in the dark, but his reaction told me it had been an accurate one when he didn’t even try to deny it.
Instead, he spoke in a perfectly warm tone even as he idly toyed with one of the roses in the vase on his desk, “Do you really have that choice, though, little hatchling?”
I shook my head at his words, “”Of course I⏤”
“You’ve been safe this entire time at each of the clans because of who you are. My personal vampire hunter. Without that, do you really think all of the vampires you’ve encountered over these past months would have kept themselves from attacking you?”
I faltered at his words, watching as his hand curled too tightly around a single brilliantly red blossom of a rose and severed the silky petals from the stem without hardly a second thought from the man.
Red petals poured from his dark glove like a macabre promise that had me swallowing thickly before I shook my head, “Maybe not. But it’s different now.”
My voice wavered slightly as I spoke, but I met his gaze determinedly, “I have allies and close friends in all of the clans now. I can defend myself, and if the worst comes and I can’t handle something, they’ll protect me.”
I wasn’t the same defenseless person I’d been at the start of this. I’d fought enough vampires, and even killed them, that I knew I could take care of myself. And I wasn’t alone. I hadn’t been to start with, and I wasn’t now.
Crowley smiled, nodding as he stepped away from the desk until he was closer to me, with his shadow cast over me in such a way that my own shadow wasn’t even visible anymore. “But what about you? Is there really a place for someone such as yourself, who attracts vampires to them by merely existing, in the world of the living?”
My lips pressed together as I held his gaze, forcing myself to ignore the urge to press myself back and against the door, away from him. “Maybe there is, and maybe there isn’t, but I’m not fighting for that life.”
I straightened, standing my ground as I resolved myself to voice a decision I’d already made so long ago back when I’d first become a vampire hunter. “I’ll stay in this world just as I am. Here, in your world of the night, as the vampire hunter for this district. And I have a plan of my own.”
A smile split its way across his pale face, “Oh?”
I nodded, bracing myself, “I would like to suggest that a clan be formed for the remaining insane vampires where they can have access to legally obtained blood. I’ll keep an eye on them and take charge, but this way no further death will be necessary.”
Crowley frowned briefly, resting his finger against his chin. But I hardly had time to wait for his response before I was spinning in alarm to look behind me as the door abruptly opened.
“Well done, pup.” Crewel looked down at me with a grin on his face like he’d just won a bet.
I blinked at him in silent surprise as I slowly noticed the number of people who stood behind him. All of the heads of the clans and all of Crowley’s men. Though, the clan leaders' expressions were a glorious mixture of annoyance and mystified confusion.
Sam leaned around the doorframe that he propped himself against, his grin wide as his gaze found mine and he winked, “Congratulations. You passed the test, Little Imp.”
“The… test?” I faltered slightly as I looked towards the others in search of explanation. Finding myself met with numerous confused expressions and a few understanding ones.
Trein nodded at my words, smiling with a surprising amount of fondness at me, “The test. We decided that the time had come for a full-time vampire hunter who was in contact with the head-vampire of this district, and we also knew that a different solution would be necessary for dealing with the insane vampires.”
“Indeed! As the world has progressed, the living have progressed with it, making it harder for us to remain hidden. If we are to maintain our own status, we must have someone on the other side to help us. While Mr. Hunt was indeed a flawless hunter, he was far more attached to vampires than the world of the living. You, though, with your attachments to both our world and yours, were the perfect choice, Hatchling. Your finding a way to handle the insane vampires is just the cherry on top!”
I turned to stare in disbelief at Crowley, who was beaming at me like he was perfectly brilliant and deserving of praise.
I felt my hands clench as I stared at him, shaking my head slightly before I finally managed to speak. “And yet you decided to push me the rest of the way into the world of the night so that I don’t have nearly the attachments that I had to start with?”
He blinked at my words in almost owlish fashion before recovering at almost impressive speeds, “Ah, but you hesitate to become a vampire! You remain attached to the beating heart in your chest that keeps you alive and in the sunlight.”
I almost bristled at his words, but I didn’t get to say anything. In fact, I didn’t have to.
“So you decided to bank on the Herbivore's sense of self-preservation and push them into the position you wanted them.” Leona’s voice was flat from behind me and I didn’t have to turn to have a good idea of the expression he was wearing.
“And you had them go to all of the clans in order to ensure they could survive here even if Vil wasn’t with them at all times,” Riddle continued where Leona had left off as all the pieces seemed to fall into place.
“Like moving a pawn across a chessboard to turn them into a queen,” Malleus sounded almost musing in his summation as I held Crowley’s gaze. Frustrated at how perfectly I’d been played once again as I glowered at him.
At odds with my frustration, he clapped his hands together proudly, “Precisely. And now we have the perfect vampire hunter to help me keep all of the naughty vampires in line.”
I felt my left eye twitch as Crowley’s gaze fell to where I stood once more. Victorious as I glared back at him. Still trapped in the exact same position I’d been at the start of all of this.

I exhaled, glancing over at where Vil stood next to me as we entered the massive building where Crowley’s ball was being held. And in many ways it felt surreal to be back here, where I’d been first introduced to all of the clans as the new vampire hunter and where I’d first met Crowley.
It hadn’t been the start of everything, per se, but it had been an important step that eventually led to me going down a path that now led me back here once more. At yet another vampire ball.
But this time I knew a good number of these people, and I was no longer as nervous as I watched the large doors swing open to reveal where I stood next to Vil. My hand lightly rested on his elbow as we stepped into the ballroom together. With Rook and Epel right behind us, just like they had been the first time.
Because, even after all this time, these three were still the men I was closest to.
It was almost like we’d stepped into the past as Sam announced our entrance in a warm-sounding voice that had everyone turning to look at where stood at the top of the grand staircase that led the rest of the way into the ballroom.
But this time, the reactions we received were different.
Kalim was practically beaming at us from where he stood next to Jamil, who merely inclined his head. Ever-reserved whenever he felt like anyone important might be watching.
Similarly to Kalim, the entirety of the Octavinelle clan smiled at me from where they stood, having apparently been talking to Malleus, who smiled as Sebek turned with a slight frown and Lilia waved cheekily from next to a slightly sleepy-looking Silver.
Beyond them I could see a familiar robot with flaming hair waving one arm in the air as his brother did his very best to be less noticeable despite the untamable swathe of blue flames that sprouted from his head. A clear indicator of who they both were.
A slightly curious-looking red-haired leonine werebeast man stood next to Leona and was obviously questioning him while Jack and Ruggie stood close by as well.
And finally, there was the entire Heartslabyul entourage. The majority of them turning to look our way with wide smiles on their faces while Riddle did his best to keep up appearances.
Vil glanced over at me, his eyebrows slightly raised as he spoke in a hushed voice and started to walk down the steps with me, “Seems like you're just as popular as ever, Tater tot.”
I grinned at him, leaning slightly closer, “Well, you were the one who said that there were a great many vampires who would challenge you for the mere chance of catching a tater tot like me.”
I paused, not even bothering to hide my amusement as I eyed him and the smile he fought to keep from crossing his face at my teasing reminder of his own words from last Halloween before I finished, “And that was before I got to know any of them.”
“Indeed, it seems that our beloved Trickster has completely charmed all of the clans,” Rook leaned forward, joining the conversation as Epel shook his head slightly.
“I guess I’m starting to get why Vil always warns you to be careful. This is just ridiculous. I mean, look at all of them. Just openly staring,” The lavender-haired boy sighed, almost like he was disappointed in his own kind, as I glanced back out across the crowd.
“Them staring at me is hardly anything new, though,” My words were barely a murmur, but Vil heard them, and his gaze slid back over my way almost immediately.
“People will always stare at those who have anything special about them. Be it their appearance or a position. They’ll believe what they want and stare no matter how the person feels about it.” I looked his way as Vil finished, his own voice soft. Almost like he spoke from experience.
And, knowing him, he was. Vil was most certainly special. If nothing else, he was incredibly beautiful and definitely well-respected within the world of the night.
The mysterious vampire who’d remained unattached to any clan until his hand had been forced. By me.
I let my fingers curl slightly as I eyed him closely. Idly wondering if I could ever bear the weight of all the years he and so many of the other vampires in this room carried.
It was something I’d been considering ever since I’d received Crowley’s invitation to this ball. Because Crowley inviting me here meant something was coming, and I had to brace myself.
But I didn’t even know what I was bracing myself for. And, hauntingly enough, I couldn’t help but remember how Rook had said that he’d known he would someday that he would end up getting turned simply because he’d been a vampire hunter.
I still hadn’t figured out what Crowley had been wanting this entire time. But I was certain from the brief chat I’d had with Crewel that it had something to do with me befriending the clans.
“Vil… What do you think Crowley is going to want?” I kept my eyes on all of the vampires spread out in front of and around me as I spoke, but I could fill Vil’s eyes on me. His gaze somehow more weighty than all the rest, even when I considered Rook and Epel. Perhaps because he was so important to me.
He sighed, a soft exhale before his words, even though I already knew what his answer was going to be, “I don’t know… Only that it’s going to involve you and your place in our world.”
I nodded silently as a sense of disquiet settled inside of me.
Spending the past few nights just relaxing with everyone had been beyond peaceful. A return to the time when I would spend my evenings with Vil. Watching old films, unconcerned about the goings-on of vampire clans or what Crowley might want from me.
But this time Crowley wasn’t going to catch me off-guard. Not like he had the first time I’d met him.
My train of thought was cut off as someone walked over, and I looked over in time to see the familiar smug smirk, “I see you came with your escort yet again, Herbivore.”
Despite his words, I felt myself smile at Leona. His jab was a welcome distraction from my swirling thoughts, though, as I crossed my arms, “Well, he did ask.”
Green eyes slid towards where Vil stood, already prepared for Leona’s amused gaze as he lifted one eyebrow, “If you wanted to be their escort, you should have already asked. It’s not my fault you were napping on the opportunity like you always do.”
I smiled as I watched the two of them, largely ignoring the way Epel’s gaze darted between the two of them while Rook grinned in almost unnatural delight. But there was something amusing about watching these two bicker.
Leona didn’t actually send his retort back towards Vil, though. Instead, his gaze slid back over where I stood as he tilted his head, “Not bothered by the rumors anymore, then?”
I briefly stilled at his words, recalling our past discussion almost immediately. The one where Leona had revealed exactly what everyone had thought of mine and Vil’s relationship was.
And then I smiled, shaking my head before I responded. My words an echo of what Vil had just told me mere moments ago, “Hardly. People will believe what they want to, and everyone important already understands the situation.”
Leona snorted at my words but didn’t say anything else as several other familiar faces walked up. Namely the leaders of the various clans.
But before much of anything could be said, Sam’s voice was ringing out across the ballroom once more, interrupting all conversations as he announced another person’s arrival: “Dire Crowley!”
I turned, realizing all at once that I was at the center of a large group of people as I looked up at the top of the staircase. My eyes colliding almost immediately with the glowing yellow ones that peered out at me from under the now familiar bird mask that covered the head-vampire's pale, smiling face.
Hours in the Moonlight: Rose Red Dawn - 27. Back To A Wall
Summary: You might not know what, exactly, Crowley was wanting to talk to you about. But you could still come prepared. And even if they offered, you weren’t going to have any of your friends accompany you for this chat with the masked vampire. You were going to deprive him of any such ammo and deal with him on your own. Even if you had your back to a wall the entire time.

Everyone seemed relieved that Crowley’s speech of welcome was a short one, though I felt myself tensing as his gaze trailed its way back over to me. His meaning was obvious, though. He wanted to talk to me about something. That was why he’d invited me to this ball after all.
I was just surprised that he hadn’t done what he did last time and summoned me.
I’d barely even taken one step forward before I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I turned to see, of all people, Deuce and Ace looking at me. And behind them stood almost all of the other vampires I knew. Either openly looking my way or pretending not to.
“Do you want us to come with you?” I blinked as I registered the openly worried expression on Deuce’s face, and I found myself glancing between the two young men, wondering exactly how I’d managed to collect so many friends for myself.
Ace frowned at my hesitation, glancing at Vil before he spoke, and I could almost feel Vil match his stare as Ace hurriedly looked away and opted to meet my gaze instead, “I can just go with him if you want, of course. You seem pretty close to him….”
He trailed off as I smiled, shaking my head slightly. I’d told Vil, Rook, and Epel before we’d ever gotten here that I would go in and talk to Crowley on my own.
Crowley had used those important to me against me before, and I wasn’t about to give him another chance to do so again. Especially not when he’d entered this ball only to immediately see me surrounded by friends.
“No, it’ll be fine. He probably just wants to talk about my final report,” I glanced over at where Riddle stood almost by instinct before forcing myself to look back at the two young men who were currently with me.
I smiled reassuringly at both of them, “I probably won’t even be gone that long, though if you want to do me a favor….”
I trailed off, but Deuce jumped on it in an instant, causing me to smile even as he nodded enthusiastically, “Yes?”
I lifted one shoulder awkwardly, “Could you see if they have any food for non-vampires here tonight? I didn’t get to eat before coming here.”
A grin sprawled its way across Ace’s face as he shook his head with an exaggerated roll of his eyes, “Leave it to you to forget something as simple as that.”
Deuce nodded, chuckling slightly as he stepped away, “We’ll get you something before you get back, Y/n.”
I nodded, waving farewell with a soft thank you before turning only to feel myself pause and glance, perhaps inevitably, at the trio of men who’d been by my side this entire time.
Vil tilted his head, a faintly amused smile appearing on his face, and from behind him I could see Rook smiling at me while Epel flashed a thumbs up.
And, despite everything, the mere sight of them and the knowledge everyone else was here as well was comforting.
I smiled back, meeting Vil’s glance one last time before I turned and took off. Walking lightly up the stairs even as I thought back guiltily to my request of Ace and Deuce.
Because while it was true that I hadn’t eaten before coming here, I was hardly worried about eating though. I just didn’t want any of my friends anywhere close to that room while I met with Crowley.
I wasn’t going to give him any chances to use anyone I cared about against me or to hurt them. Not this time.
And if that meant facing him on my own, then so be it.
I did glance back though, as I reached the top of the staircase where Sam waited for me. And almost immediately I made eye contact with the one man who was still watching me, a concern that I knew was born from fondness even despite the amusement that had been on his face when he’d sent me on my way.
But Vil was an actor and often wouldn’t show his true thoughts if he thought they’d hold me back unless he thought he was in the clear.
I smiled slightly at Vil, nodding my head at him before turning to follow Sam, who’d waited for me just as patiently as he always did.
It was dark in the hallway that led to Crowley’s office, and the silence felt insurmountable. Almost like it was a final warning for me to brace myself for whatever was about to come.
Because this time I’d be facing it on my own.
Sam glanced my way, his pink eyes all but glowing in the darkness, “Are you ready, Little Imp?”
I held his gaze, biting my tongue to keep myself from asking him what, exactly, I was supposed to be ready for and instead nodding before I finally managed to speak without any questions spilling from my mouth. “As I’ll ever be.”
He smiled, his fangs barely visible in the darkness as he nodded, his steps already slowing from where we’d reached Crowley’s office far faster than I’d expected. “Then, just like each time before, I wish you the very best of luck, Little Imp.”
I swallowed slightly as he faced me, his gloved hand resting on the knob as he waited for me to give him the final signal.
I inhaled before nodding and smiling slightly as Sam. My expression briefly stopped him right before he opened the door as I held his gaze, feeling my smile become gradually more genuine, “Thanks for everything, Sam.”
He paused before nodding, his eyes glimmering slightly, like he knew something I didn’t. And he probably did. But his words gave nothing away. “Anytime, Little Imp. It’s always a pleasure working with you.”
I huffed out a soft laugh as he opened the door, and I stepped into the office where Crowley sat. But none of his men were present this time. It was just going to be me and him.
He smiled at me, standing from his seat and spreading his arms in a welcoming manner as the door clicked softly shut behind. Essentially putting my back to a wall and leaving with only one choice.
