Valle de Cocora: where the trees are orange and yellow. The Cloud Forest in Colombia 🇨🇴
SALENTO, Quindío, Colombia VIAJANDO POR EL EJE CAFETERO
COLOMBIA IN 10 DAYS: SALENTO
The enchanting and beautiful Spanish colonial mountain town of Salento, Colombia is filled with lush landscapes and a plethora of colorful shops, not to mention the TALLEST PALM TREES ON EARTH at the famous Cocora Valley (Valle de Cocora).
After a (now hilarious, but at the time terrifying) arrival to Salento, we were ready to explore the abundance of options this small town has to offer - starting with the town itself!
On the way to Cocora Valley, we explored the town, which is filled with colorful shops, a main square, and a vibrant and contagious energy.
Cocora Valley is literally unlike anything I've seen before, with gigantic wax palm trees (again, tallest in the WORLD ya'll) and gorgeous trails.
And when in the coffee region, you obviously have to do a coffee tour at "Ocaso Cafe Tour." Seriously, the coolest thing ever and not just because I'm obsessed with coffee. During the guided tour, we learned all about coffee cultivation and are taken first hand through the coffee production process. The Ocaso Farm is just 5 km away from Salento's main square (and 16 km from Cocora valley).
Back in Salento, we climbed up a massive staircase to "Mirador De Salento," the famous viewpoint over Salento where you see out over the entire valley. Absolutely breathetaking!
Again, for a small town there is SO MUCH TO DO! After several days in Salento, we head to our final destination, Cartagena!
