﹝﹝  it isn’t in hanzo’s nature to be so reckless, that was more so a specialty reserved for his fool of a brother. he had gotten careless, however, failing to wait out the target’s dying breath and in turn was gifted a deep wound to the shoulder. his face remains stoic as he lets the pliers pry apart flesh and blood in search of metal, the pain a searing yet numbing ache that he’s all too familiar with. he is unfazed by the hurt, it was a mere scratch in comparison to the treacheries he’d endured before as a mere child. 

he does not want this woman to even cast those blues his way, much less touch him, yet both are inevitable in the end as she carries out the gall to strike him.  that almost makes him react, a twitch at the corner of stern lips to indicate his displeasure as hard eyes sidle towards her in a quiet glare that speaks for him ‘was that really necessary?’

she  needn’t  frequent  parisian  auditoriums  ,  not  since  her  introduction  to  the  world  of  talon  and  the  violence  and  passion  wrought  within  .  it  was  cathartic  ,  however  ,  marveling  upon  the  sights  granting  paris  with  the  reputation  it  upheld  oh  -  so  -  well  .  thusly  ,  when  talon  did  not  call  for  her  lithe  hands  ,  rife  with  precision  and  refinement  , widowmaker  occupied  the  bustling  paris  streets  ,  reveling  in  the  city’s  rose  colored  glow  .

most  beloved  of  all  is  a  petite  cafe  stowed  away  past  the  bustling  population  of  the  city  ,  housing  many  a  baked  good  and  carefully  brewed  beverage  .  no  matter  where  her  work  with  talon  takes  her  ,  the  cafe  remains  closely  laden  in  her  heart  .  whatever  is  left  of  her  heart  ,  at  least.  the  staff  recognizes  her  ,  though  truthfully  ,  who  could  miss  someone  like  her  ?  and  she  recognizes  all  the  locals  ,  too  .  how  could  she  not  ? the  establishment  reeked  of  urbanity  ,  of  finesse  ,  and  somehow  ,  in  her  lapis  hued  skin  ,  she fits  in  just  as  well  .

FEIGNED IGNORANCE loses desired effect with the way color FLOODS his face , pink-stained cheeks not made so by the ALCOHOL.

SUCH A JUVENILE WORDfor how deep his emotions run--- taking a seat beside angela , DELICATELY to remain steady --- how many drinks had he downed in the past hour ? --- jack brings his glass beneath his chin & slouches over it, features PINCHING as his heart TWISTS---

                                    “ there’s---admiration. & there’s RESPECT , but...                                                           there’s no CRUSH, angela. ” 

when his head lifts , his countenance is colored in BITTERSWEET tones--- eventually he swallows , tucking his chin again , fingertips drawing up along the condensation of his glass . a crush , yeah , the only thing GETTING CRUSHED is his HEART---

he’s had a lot of time to THINK about it , YEARS to sort out his feelings for one GABRIEL REYES - but there wasn’t an option to DO anything about it - they had more important things to focus on than jack’s heart going WILD any time gabe entered the room. ...it’s not FEAR that keeps him quiet , it’s DUTY---jack knows from EXPERIENCE that he’s not capable of juggling romance alongside his DEDICATION to his WORK - pursuing a relationship wouldn’t be fair to ANYONE , not to mention he doubts gabe bears INTEREST---

a CLOSE relationship , though they have , there’s always been some sort of BARRIER between them - jack trusts gabriel more than anything , gabriel KNOWS HIM better than ANYONE---& maybe it’s for THAT that he won’t speak up ; gabe’s GOTTA know jack’s feelings for him , he doesn’t do well at HIDING THEM , & just... it’s never been addressed . it’s a topic they’ve danced around , & if jack’s the only one with something to lose , well---than he’s not so eager to broach the conversation.

A CRUSH . shaking his head, jack exhales a breath of laughter . tipping back in his seat , he draws his glass up for a long pull , but not before admitting with a pained smile :

“Angela, I already told you no. The decision has been made, there is no point arguing about it further.”

There is an EDGE of tension to his voice forever gruff, but still holding a note of softness as he speaks her name. It was only when it was just the two of them alone that he even ALLOWED such emotion to creep up and even then perhaps he would do well to remember what they have agreed upon. Oh, how his heart still beats for her, even NOW in the middle of a conflicting argument-- he couldn’t help how it bled for her.

STILL, Reyes knows too well how to hide his emotions behind a mask, how to shove everything back where it will remain hidden as he leaned back against the wall of some random hallway of the headquarters. There was no escaping her FOREVER, he supposed, it was only a matter of time before she tracked him down and cornered him where he COULD NOT slip away so easily. He knew she would be upset by his decision to pass her up as a candidate for being Blackwatch’s head doctor when he had made it, but he had his reasons for doing so. Most of which he was SURE she was already aware of. Covert ops was NO place for someone like her after all, and the LAST THING Gabriel wanted was to pull her into its dark and tangled underworld.

She deserved so much better.
