3/3/25.
Unbelievable. It's been over 8 years since I first posted about Mumbly (Paris, France). The band formed in the 1990s and has just released a CD of demos. I bought the Mumblybule EP years ago and still listen with appreciation.
I received an email from Mumbly touting their new release as "a journey back to the band’s beginnings, influenced by Felt, noisy pop of the time, and The Velvet Underground." The Bandcamp page clarifies what they mean by noisy pop - Ride and Pale Saints.
But the email also laments the current state of music. Michaël Korchia states, "Some of my bands [Watoo Watoo, Feutre and Vacance] are struggling on streaming platforms. Without a regular audience, they remain invisible, drowned in the ocean of algorithms."
I would have posted (and bought this) regardless, but it's good to remember that Bandcamp does benefit artists who otherwise struggle to get their music heard.
