He gazes at you as you do, a smile slowly appearing on his lips while he just stares at every bit of feature you have on your face. It takes a few seconds until you notice it, and when you do, you begin to lower your hand, masking your sudden embarrassed expression with a cool laugh.

“What?” you ask him, still chuckling.

His smile transforms into something more sincere. “____…”

“Hmm?”

“Should we get married?”

“What?” You repeat immediately, laughing even harder now. “Are you crazy?”

“Why?” Taehyung steps closer to you and you take one step away in return, your back softly hitting the booth wall. “Don’t you think it’s a good idea? If we get married, your mom can stop setting you up with those stupid blind dates and my dad can stop asking me when will I get married too.”

“You make it sound less complicated if you say it like that.”

“What’s so complicated about marrying your best friend?”

“Yah, Taehyung,” you squint your eyes at him, “you know how I see marriage as a serious thing. I want to get married to the person I love and want to spend my life with.”

“Don’t you want that with me?”

The sound of the rain accompanied by the splatter of drops heard on the roof almost convinces you that you didn’t manage to catch Taehyung’s words right, but by the way he’s still looking at you, waiting for some sort of reaction, you’re convinced that you picked it up correctly.

It confuses you and makes your heart act up.

“Don’t you love me?” he adds when you still remain speechless.

“Of course, I do,” you say, “but I mean—”

“What’s the difference?” He cuts you off with a lighthearted snort. “Love or in love, it’s still the same. And I love you, you know.”

“Hey...”

“What?”

“Stop making it a small thing.”

“Making what a small thing? The fact that I love you?”

Your heart skyrockets again.

“Kim Taehyung,” you state in warning, not wanting to hear that once more when it could be very well misinterpreted by your head, but he ignores your serious tone and starts to duck his head down a little lower, moving his face close to yours that you’re unable to keep your composure.

“____ _____,” he copies your tone, eyes not wavering on staring at yours, “I love you. I love you a lot. Do you get it now?”

Everything seems to begin to spin in slow motion at that point on. It feels like the raindrops falling suddenly stops, the wind gives up on blowing on the trees, and it’s only you and Taehyung at that moment, with his ridiculous smile and his ridiculous words that always made you second guess everything.

Before you can utter out a response, his beeper emits a sound and he quickly checks the device to read the message.

“I’m being paged to OR 7.” He sighs, glancing at you again. “How about I head over there first and then I tell one of the residents to meet you here? So that you won’t have to run in the rain?” He doesn’t even wait for you to reply as he’s already passing on the eco bag that contained the food you two bought from the convenience store.

You can’t believe he’s acting so nonchalant but you have no choice than to just act unaffected for the sake of not appearing like a fool.

“That sounds like a good idea,” you say after a good second.

He nods. “Okay. Wait for whoever comes, it’ll be quick.”

You don’t want to look at him as he begins to go out of the telephone booth but you abruptly feel a tug on your wrist and you’re forced to set your eyes on him again.

“What? Just get going now, they need you there already—”

“I’m not saying you should say yes right now, I just want you to consider it. Just tell me you’ll at least consider marrying me.”

You huff out a breath, disbelief evident in your face since you thought that conversation was over and he wasn’t really serious about it.

“You’re crazy,” you say again.

“Is that a yes?”

“Just go, Tae.”

“Not until I know you’ll consider it. I need to know you will.”

The more you hold him up here, the more you know the life of the patient waiting in OR 7 is being endangered. So, even if you’re still puzzled and bewildered and not knowing what the correct answer should be yet, you nod. You nod slowly until it becomes faster and you’re patting his back to push him out, wanting him rushing back to the hospital already for the sake of everyone’s lives.

“Hurry now. Run fast but be careful.”

He grins, biting his bottom lip as he lets you shove him away. “Yes, ma’am.”

“Go, go!” You yell while watching him with squinted eyes, Taehyung indeed sprinting towards the direction of the hospital, though before he can get far away, he turns to you one last time and yells at the top of his lungs.

“Think about it, okay?”

You manage to let out an amused smile.

note. okay i've been totally hung over medical dramas since late last year so :---) also, this might be cheesy as hell and seems like it was pulled out from a very corny kdrama too so-

-V would be THEE most gentle person ever when it came to your migraines 

-he tried very hard to make every effort to help prevent them from happening but when they happened he was very sweet

-he would speak in very soft tones, not wanting to aggravate it more

-the lights would usually be out in every attempt to make them stop while also knowing it wasn’t that easy

-he was usually very composed when they happened, nodding carefully when you told him 

-if he hadn’t noticed already which he usually was able to do 

-he could tell by the way you composed yourself that the episode was coming on sometimes before you even noticed yourself

-he wanted to make sure that you had everything you needed, the medication if he could get his hands on it and specific lightbulbs he swore worked

-when you started to have a headache and started to get confused (which took him a few goes to get used to) he was completely understanding

-sometimes you weren’t always sure where you were and he would tell you gently and you would be able to understand more than

-on occasion you would get a really bad one and just pass out

-and he would just CATCH YOU

-like full stop, edward saving bella from the truck in twilight, catch you 

-it was super human and a shame you were never actually awake to see it

-when you were able to just lay down and wait it out he would wait with you, letting you cuddle into his side 

-he’d rub your back or massage your forehead if it helped

-like his revolution was one thing but your migraines were a whole other thing which needed his attention when they happened

-he’d make warm beverages and make sure you had blankets because his place was usually pretty cold

-literally every good boyfriend thing that you could think of V was on top of it

-anything you asked for he had it

-dating V was probably the best thing that ever happened to you, especially since the world had gone to heck

-you probably met at night where he was either saving you or you were admiring the fact you could and would break rules and he was saving you from that

-V was always, always, a gentleman and was usually very catering to what you wanted because you had now condemned yourself to live a life alone with him which he was never able to reply

-at first he was always constantly worried that you would want to leave once you got bored and asked you when it was safe if you wanted to go back but you always denied him this 

-at first you wondered if you could take care of it yourself but you learned to live his little home and adored to pieces every bit of it

-soon it easily became your home as well

-V was very keen on baking and making food for you  

-he was very very good at it and he adored doing it for you in small favors

-he learned all of your favorite dishes and learned to make them to perfection 

-that being said when you wanted to cook he wouldn’t allow it because he thought it might exert you and he never wanted that. Sometimes you would cook together and throw flour at each other and such but other than that you had to stay out of the kitchen unless he had gotten sick

-which did happen once and you ended up making a very good dish that he was impressed with

-it took V a long time to take off his mask in front of you

-it held a lot of meaning for him and he had grown used to having it on at all times 

-eventually though he trusted you enough to let you see and you admired him for that and you traced every single scar that he had over time

-after that, the fact that he would often leave the ask off when you went to bed together he grew even more comfortable beside you

-he was always a very sensual and slow person and that was no different in sex

-the term love making should have been invented by him

-his hands also worked wonders but that was beside the point

-V wanted you to have everything and to see everything

-it was sad to know that you couldn't’ see the places you had long dreamed of seeing but he did not shy away from taking you out when he could, allowing you to see views and wonders that no one else could

-and he loved to call you pet names but only the traditional ones

-darling, love stuff like that. He thought it added to the traditional romance in him

-he had seen a lot of classic movies and the cheese from them paid off wonderfully

V had the best voice. Like the very best voice. 

In fact that was what made you fall in love with him in the first place. You hadn’t seen his face yet so you were stuck on how much you loved his voice. He articulated things well and he had the best subtle accent that you had ever heard of. 

It soothed you. Granted, it could probably soothe anyone. But you told him that often and it had gone to his head. You still loved it though. 

You sat in his home that you now called your own home. You loved him enough to become a felon of the state for him but that did mean that you were confined to the space unless you were with him. 

You didn’t mind really. You were sure that his home, the lively place that it was, was better than anywhere out there.

“I present to you, dessert,” he said happily. V walked over to where you were on the couch and handed you one of the two plates he was holding. You grabbed it and smiled.

“This looks amazing.” 

“It’s a delicacy from France. Very popular but also very plain. I added some chocolates in there for you.” You smiled. You took a bite and finished it within seconds. Granted it wasn’t very big so you didn’t feel too bad about eating it quickly.

“This is delicious V. I mean it.” 

He had also finished his. He took both plates and placed them on the coffee table, noticing that you were reading something when he had come over.

“What are you reading?” he inquired. You picked up the book from your lap and showed it to him. 

“Phantom Of The Opera. You have so many books in the bedroom I figured I should start plowing through them.” He took it and held his spot with your thumb while also looking through the pages around it to see where you were. You had only just barely started it and found yourself in the spot where Christine was getting her first solo due to the main actress being unable. 

“Wonderful story. I think I have the original film somewhere here too.”

“It’s presented in that story as more of a creature feature though. I don’t think that’s exactly right,” you suggested. He smiled gently and looked up at you.

“Why is that?”

“I haven’t gotten very far in at all but from what I know of the story the Phantom loves Christine in a very bad way. He wants to own her and control the opera house and such but I feel for him. I suppose I’m a sucker for a guy in a mask though,” you said with a sly smile. 

Your eyes were getting droopy and he could tell you weren’t going to last much longer awake.

“I suppose you are.” 

“You want to read some to me?” you suggested. He nodded. He loved reading to you or talking to you. Perhaps it was the fact that he simply loved to hear his own voice but he knew how much it soothed you as well.

“I would love to.”

You smiled happily and cuddled into his side. You put your blanket over his lap as well as it was a very large blanket and he put his feet up on the coffee table. It was always so cozy in V’s home and you had grown to love it very much. 

He cleared his throat and began to read.

“On the first landing, Sorelli ran against the Comte de Chagny, who was coming upstairs. The count, who was generally so calm, seemed excited,” he read.

He ended up reading about thirty pages before realizing that you had clearly fallen asleep on his lap. He stopped reading and looked down at you, a faint smile on his face. He brushed a piece of hair out of your face so that he could see your resting eyes.

V loved you. He loved you more than anything he had ever known. He became a man when he was beside you, no longer an idea .

He got comfy because he was going to be there a while.

“We cannot go out,” V said. You looked over at him from the couch. You were surprised he was even there. He hadn’t been there a few minutes ago. 

“What?” 

“The plans I had to take you out tonight, they’ve ceased to exist.” V was standing across the room next to the body of armour. You were watching one of the movies that he had there that was surely banned from the regular world. You lived underground with him, having been caught up with him during one of his adventures in the world. You lived with him now, unable to protect yourself from the police alone.

Not that you minded too much. It was fun to be in a place with as much life as V’s home had. “Why is that love?”

He looked annoyed, not at you but at the world. It was almost childish which was a rare thing to see with V. He must have really been looking forward to this. There was a loud boom above you and you looked up, raising an eyebrow.

“Was that a bomb? Can we not go out because we’re being bombed?” you asked. He shook his head and walked closer to you, taking off his cape and draping it over the back of the chair you were sitting on. He sat on the arm of the chair, taking the mask off very gently, handing it to you.

You took it, still watching as he began to take things off. 

“Thunder. Very bad actually. It might be the first time the curfew was a grace to people.” You scoffed and leaned against the chair, looking back toward the movie. 

“Is it raining?” you asked gently. He gave you a look and you felt his mask which was wet. “Yes then,” you laughed. He nodded. 

“Why?” 

“I used to love the rain.” 

He looked up at the stairs he had come down and you could see his wheels turning. He tried desperately to make sure you had enough time outside but you could only go out at night and once a month was safe. He had hoped tonight would be fun but he supposed he couldn’t let the thunder and rain stop that.

“Come.”

He grabbed his mask back and put it on, taking his cape and putting it over your shoulders. He rushed to the stairs and you ran up it together to the world. You came to the top quickly and the street was dark but beautiful. The rain hit it perfectly. You smiled, reaching your hand out gently to touch it. The rain felt amazing against your skin. 

You gasped, feeling yourself get emotional when there was a loud clap of thunder. You stumbled back into V and he caught you.

“Someone will see,” you whispered and he nodded. You shut the door but you were happy to have seen it before walking back down to your home. V started to unwind again and you walked to the bed, turning off the movie and stepping over the books to get to it.

A moment later V joined you, holding two mugs.

“Hot chocolate?” You nodded happily as he sat beside you. 

“Yes please.”

He handed you the cup and you took it, taking a little sip because of the heat. You leaned against him and you stared at the wall of books together, waiting and listening. After a few more moments you heard the loud sound of thunder again before the sound of a sheet of rain above you. You smiled. It had been so long since a storm was so bad you could hear the rain down here.

“It’s so...fantastical,” you whispered. He nodded, looking up at the ceiling.

“A good word for it,” he admitted softly.

His voice, usually booming and elegant, was very quiet so that he couldn’t speak over the rain. Watching your face he couldn’t help but smile. You looked like a child on Christmas morning, in awe of the nature around you. 

You continued to drink your hot cocoa together, leaning against each other. It was a peaceful moment that you couldn’t help but enjoy more than anything. V was always so eccentric but he had his moments of peace and those were special.

“Are you going to fall asleep?” he asked quietly but when he turned back to your eyes were shut and your breathing was even as your head laid on his shoulder. He smiled and took your cup, putting it on the ground beside him, alongside his cup. 

He gently put your head on the pillow and he put his head down beside yours, staring at your face. He put the blanket over the both of you.
