v!Apo is my favorite character in vsmp, and is making their way up the ranking of being one of my favorites ever.

One of the reasons for this is her ability to be read as an allegory for SA victims. If you don’t subscribe to that reading, that’s fine, but as an SA victim, it means… so much. To see them just… Existing. To know they got home to the person she loves.

And she’s not unscathed. She’ll never be human again. She’ll never be able to eat her partner’s cooking, or her previous favorite foods. She’ll never be able to grow old. She’ll never die naturally.

But Apo, the woman who said that death is what makes life worth living, was able to live the next 80 or so years alongside the woman she loved. She lives, and she dies. She’s able to heal and have agency in her final moments, choosing to die, her end in the form of her lover’s withered hand around a stake.
