Ryan looked back after talking to another one of his friends looking for his girl. It didn’t take him long to spot her wearing a short blue dress looking as gorgeous as ever. He walked over to Michelle and even till now Ryan couldn’t believe that he’d managed to be with a girl for this long. She must be really special if she’s tied me down for this long, Ryan thought walking over to her.  Michelle spotted her boyfriend and outstretched a smile.

“Hey!” Michelle said to him as Ryan planted a kiss on her chick.

“Hey babe, you having fun?” Ryan asked her with a smile reciprocating hers.

“Yeah, you sure do know how to throw a party Ryan Lochte.” Michelle complimented him. This was true. Ryan did know how to entertain his guests.  

“I only do the best to impress you.” Ryan said her.

“Aww Ryan, you don’t have to impress me. Trust me, you’ve already done that.” Michelle began saying. “Why else would I have stayed with you for this long?” she asked rhetorically but Ryan didn’t catch on.

“The abs, I mean come on who wouldn’t?” Ryan said joking causing his girlfriend to laugh. Ryan the pulled Michelle towards him and wrapped his hands around her neck. He looked into Michelle’s eyes for a while before speaking. His piercing blue eyes struck right through Michelle’s making her fall in love with him even more. “How did I get so lucky?” Ryan asked out loud completely engrossed in Michelle making her blush.

“Ryan…” Michelle began.

“No, I’m serious. I know 2013’s been a whirlwind of a year but the one person who’s kept me stable and sane is you. Through World Champs and the freak-fan knee injury, you were there for me through it all and I’m so thankful for that baby.” Ryan said to his girlfriend. “You’re honestly the best thing that happened to me this year Michelle. I love you.” Ryan said dropping the L word.  Obviously Ryan had said ‘I love you’ to other girls but with Michelle, it was a different kind. It was a more genuine kind.

“I love you too Ry.” Michelle said having simply nothing else to say but those simply few words explained it all. The pair of them then leant into each other for a kiss of passion and love. Deep into their moment, one of Ryan’s best friends Cullen interrupted them.

“Woah there lovebirds, you’ve gotta wait till midnight to sneak a little kiss.” Cullen joked around. This year had been great for him too but relationship wise, it hadn’t gone too smoothly. He’d broken up with his long term girlfriend and was now single with no one to kiss on New Year’s Eve.

“Hey man, you know I can’t keep my hands of my girl.” Ryan said to his best friend. “And anyway, I’m not the only one like this, come on look at Conor over there with his girl.” Ryan commented pointing to another member of the American Swim Team. Conor Dwyer was sat across the room with his girlfriend of a few weeks Anna looking madly in love just as Ryan had with Michelle a few minutes ago. Conor was sat with his girlfriend next to him on one of the many luxurious couches in Ryan’s home.

“No way, you know I’m a better swimmer than you Dwyer.” Anna argued. Little did people know but Anna actually used to train for the Olympics but she had to give up her dreams due to family commitments.           

“Ok, you’re talking to an Olympic medallist here babe.” Conor argued his side cheekily. Conor and Anna had a great relationship by where they could argue and joke around with each other and no one would get hurt. Conor loved this about his girlfriend.

“I would’ve been an Olympic medallist too.” Anna said to him. 

“And you’d be a very cute medallist.” Conor said to his girlfriend complimenting her. Anna then proceeded to drop a quick kiss on Conor’s lips.

“So when are you leaving me next year?” Anna asked.  Conor knew what she meant.

“Let’s not think about that for now babe. Let’s just focus on the new year ahead ok?” Conor asked his girlfriend sweetly. Anna nodded as she got a kiss from Conor on her forehead. “So, what are your new year’s resolutions?” Conor asked intrigued to find out.

“To be more organised and to find a better boyfriend.” Anna said cheekily with a smirk.

“Oh really?” Conor asked jokingly back.

“Yeah, my current one really isn’t up to my standard.” Anna said with a smirk.

“Really, is he not?” Conor continued to joke around. “Well then let me know how he can live up to your standard and I’ll let him know.” he added.

“Mmm, no I’ll let him figure out himself.” Anna said making Conor laugh.

“You’re so hilarious.” Conor said to Anna sarcastically. The rest of the night, Conor and Anna went back and forth like just like but that’s how their relationship worked and so far, it was working.

Now another couple were outside of the house on the patio talking. This was Nathan and Tina. They’d been together for almost 3 years now but a few days ago, Nathan had decided to tweet about his relationship without telling Tina. Tina, being shy, wasn’t really ready for the mass amount of people who were clearly not happy with the fact that she was with Nathan and right at this moment, Nathan was trying his best to reassure her.

“Babe, I promise you it’ll be ok.” Nathan said holding both her hands.

“You don’t know that Nate, it’s been ok because people didn’t know. Now that they do, who knows what might happen?”

“Look Tina, even if they don’t like us being together, that’s not gonna stop me from staying with you. We’ve been through way too much to let it all go.” Nathan said. Deep down, Tina knew he was right. It didn’t matter what other people thought of their relationship, at the end of the day, it was down to them to make it work.

“I know.” Tina finally agreed making Nathan breathe a sigh of relief.

“That’s my girl.” He said with his beaming smile.

“Shut up you big goofball.” Tina said to her boyfriend looking up at him reciprocating his smile.
