Ushisuga gift for wordlesslywriting on AO3 for the Haikyuu Summer of Rarepairs exchange. I'm not sure pirate Ushi *meant* to fall in, or if he truly thought the merfolk were real, but he's learning something today.

Suga Month 02/02 - UshiSuga
I want you to be my boyfriend.
The words replayed in Suga’s head over and over and over, and even now, while he sat alone in his apartment, he stares dumbfounded at the wall. Because Suga was certain he had made it clear that he wasn’t the relationship type, he had said no.
Ushijima had seemed upset, but he respected Suga’s answer. He thanked Suga for the time they had together, making it clear he was not interested in a friends-with-benefits situation anymore. Then he left with one last kiss.
However, Suga now questioned his decision. There was an emptiness in his apartment, in his heart, that had not been there, and it wasn’t as simple as finding a new person to sleep with. He missed Ushijima.
He wanted Ushijima. Wanted to be with him.
“Fuck.”
Suga sprung from his bed and ran to his door, slipping on his shoes and grabbing his keys. If he was going to do this, it had to be now. Lucky for him, he knew exactly where Ushijima was going to be because he was supposed to be there, cheering him on from the pit.
If he hurried, he could make it in time to watch the end of the race, even with the traffic. When he arrived at the track he swerved into the back lot, going right up to the gate.
“Sugawara-san?” a worker said, recognizing him from the many times he had been there with Ushijima.
“Hey… hi. Make sure that doesn’t get towed!”
He didn’t stop much as he ran to Ushijima’s crew, where he knew he would find Tendou with a headset. They were all too enthralled in the race to notice him coming, and Tendou shrieked when Suga grabbed the headset off him midsentence.
“Hey! What the- …Suga?”
“Hi, I need to talk to Wakatoshi.”
“Now? This couldn’t have waited?”
“Yes now,” Suga informed him, and he put the headset on, listening to a confused Ushijima.
“…number sixteen doing? …Hello, Satori?”
“Wakatoshi, you know, the least you could do is be losing your race.”
Beside him Tendou scolded him for saying such a thing, but Suga swatted him away.
“Koushi?”
There was a mix of surprise, but Ushijima said his name the way he always had. It was soft and strong, determined, powerful. Suga always felt invincible when he heard his name like that. He felt he could do anything, be anything. Two days without hearing it and he realized how down he had felt.
Suga composed himself, watching Ushijima keep his lead with his competitors just behind him, waiting for an opening Ushijima was not likely to give.
“Just imagine how great it would have been if you were losing, then you hear my voice on your headset telling you to get your butt in gear,” Suga explained. He was going to tell Ushijima it would be something out of the romantic movies, but then he would have to spend fifteen minutes explaining all of the tropes. A pointless conversation because Ushijima would still not understand what would be entertaining about those things.
“Would you like me to start losing?” he asked.
“No, not now. It wouldn’t be authentic now. I’m just saying it would have been nice to see since it would show you care,” Suga explained.
“Koushi, I do care.” The words have Suga holding his breath. It wasn’t a surprise, but he liked to hear it. He liked the way Ushijima said it. And he loved how the next thing out of his mouth was, “I am just an excellent driver.”
Suga laughed. “Yeah, I guess you are.”
Tendou was motioning for Suga to give the headset back or get on with whatever he was doing because in his mind, Suga was a distraction.
“Listen, I want to be your boyfriend.”
“But you said-”
“I know what I said, Wakatoshi, but I am changing my mind. I miss you. I want you back. I want us back.”
Silence.
Unnerving silence that made Suga’s palms sweat. He figured Ushijima would have said yes right away. That it was a no brainer because he was the one who asked in the first place.
“Fuck…” Ushijima whispered to himself. “Hey, Koushi, darling, yes to us, but can you hand the headset back to Satori?”
“Fiiiiine,” Suga replied, taking it off and handing it back over. “It’s for you,” he said to Tendou.
Suga wasn’t sure what exactly they were doing because if he was being honest, he wasn’t sure what strategy there was involved in racing besides trying to keep the corner. So he just waited, watching Ushijima hold onto his lead.
He could barely contain his excitement as Ushijima passed the finishline, meeting him in the winner’s circle. Suga ran to him, wrapping his arms around his neck for a kiss. Ushijima held him close with one arm, the other holding onto his newly won trophy.
“Is this the part where I tell you that I will always win my races for you?” Ushijima asked.
Suga smiled, shaking his head. “Wakatoshi, win or lose, you have me.”
you're the only one that treats me with such gentleness 🌻

an ushisuga office au has been plaguing my brain for DAYS
The upside to Haikyuu is the characters. So many great characters, so many great different personalities and stories. They fit a billion different tropes in a billion different pairings.
The downside to Haikyuu is the characters. Because in no way, shape, or form, do I ever wanna read a comic about UshiSuga office romance BUT I SAW IT AND NOW I HAVE TO READ IT
@fadefromthelight I blame you so hard for this.
Fic Rec Time!!! Pt. 3!
I’m bringing you really wonderful and epic series to read!!
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 4

Time Loop au
1. Don’t Make Me Walk When I Want To Fly
"I don't want to leave without an apology"
After Hinata rushed from their fight he ended up in a car accident.
But when he wakes up he's not dead and he's not in a hospital either.
Hinata has to live the same day – the day when he and Kageyama fought – over and over again until he finds a solution where he could get out of the time loop.
But when the time comes, will Hinata have enough strength and bravery to do what has to be done?
An AU of what could have happened after the fight in Season 2 Episode 5.
2. Worthless Pride
3. Midnight Belonged To Miracles
4. This Version of Me
5. Crowd Full Of Strangers
Personal Notes: Warning guys, if you read this series go through the tags. Seriously, GO THROUGH THE TAGS. Some of the stuff may be triggering.
The series has 5 works, out of which 4 are completed. I’ve put the description for the first work. It’s also the starting point. If you read it out of order you’ll not understand anything.
Seriousness aside, this series is one of the best I’ve ever read. Give it a try!
Haikyuu at Hogwarts by Killthespare
Pretty much as the title suggests: a Hogwarts!AU with Haikyuu. It's planned as a seven book series so definitely a longer series. This first few can be read out of order with only minor confusion (about as easily as the first few Harry Potter books can) but there is an overall series plot in addition to the individual plots of each story. As of the fourth book, the previous third story should really be read before the fourth or later books.
So far, the stories in order:
1.) Shouyou Hinata and the Mirror of Erised (complete)
2.) Koushi Sugawara and the Heir of Slytherin (complete)
3.) Yu Nishinoya and the Shrieking Shack (complete)
4.) Tooru Oikawa and the Triwizard Tournament (in progress)
Personal Notes: It’s great!
