From the archive of Panagiotis Evangelidis. Japan in the 80s. In the late 80s, Panagiotis Evangelidis moved to Japan to learn the language. There he lived and worked for about five years. During his time there he created an extensive photographic archive that documented his life there.

Ruins of Green Farm (Submerged Pension Village) グリーンファーム跡(水没ペンション村) https://yousakana.jp/submerged-pension/ Kashino district, Ushimado, Okayama Prefecture. There are records of large-scale salt fields being built in the area as early as 1709 during the Edo period (1603-1868). The salt fields were closed due to modernisation. A resort facility named ‘Kashino Green Farm’ opened in the area around 1980. It used to have tennis courts, a swimming pool and a driving range, but it is now submerged, with only the roofs of the pensions and the tops of the lampposts visible, and is home to many waterbirds. 岡山県牛窓、鹿忍（かしの）地区。江戸時代、1709年（宝永6年）には大規模な塩田がつくられていた記録がある地域です。塩の満ち引きを利用し海水を汲み入れる入浜式塩田があり、近代化により塩田は閉鎖されました。その地域に、1980年頃にオープンした『鹿忍（かしの）グリーンファーム』という名のリゾート施設。テニスコートやプールやゴルフ練習場が整備されていましたが、現在は水没してペンション群の屋根や街灯の上部だけがみえており、多くの水鳥が生息しています。 #okayama #ushimado #setouchi #setoinlandsea #ruin #architecture #architecturephotography #ruins #okayamaprefecture (牛窓) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChZH7tcvM_Y/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

One of the purpose of this exhibition is for me to experiment how I can find value and creativity in these materials there and changing into art. Secondary, as important as my experiment, the experience which locals can actually see that reserving this usable building is more meaningful than destroying and changing into tons of industrial waste. The large food service area for cafeteria and food factory, countless rooms for guesthouse and office space, X-ray room for recording studio and photography darkroom, open space for market on weekend, and more than anything, the roof top with great view of Setouchi inland sea can be used as an event space for concert and picnic area for families. . . I know that the situation of this building is not something anybody can start business right away. On the other hand, I feel this imperfection is the fascination. It stimulates our creativity. However, this building is way too big for us. We are still seeking partners who is interested in business administration, tenanting offices and shops, or creators with ideas to make this place change.
