i posted the other day on instagram about it being over 38C in my room and 69% humidity, how i got so sick the doctor ordered me not to go in my room until the heatwave ended (not an option, unfortunately, but it's better now at a balmy 29C) and i had a relapse of symptoms so back on steroids and antibiotics
and some YANK replied "you think that's hot? try being in 106 F" so i offered my condolences on having to cope with 106 F (41C) with no air conditioning and high humidity
the guy replied "well i have AC thankfully but it's still hot outside even without the humidity. are you saying you don't have AC? if so, get it installed and turn the ceiling fan on too"
yeah buddy i'll just turn my non-existant ceiling fan on. i'll just pick up a $150 portable AC unit from walmart (in reality would be a $400 minimum and they're all sold out everywhere anyway), or have $5000 AC installed in the house i don't own, i'll just go to the air conditioned library (my local librarians wish that were true) and all these other useless things americans keep suggesting
the majority of our shops don't have air con. offices don't have air con. our fucking HOSPITALS don't have air con. my aunt had a stroke during the may heatwave just over a month ago (because remember how this heat is DANGEROUS?) and is still in hospital, unable to properly speak, unable to walk or use her right arm, with 80% blockage in one neck artery and 50% blockage in the other. all they've got is one cheapo standing fan for the whole ward and they've had to keep all the lights off because they generate too much heat
yeah yeah europoors whatever
can these people try to have some fucking empathy for once
