Overdue
Postscript to the R.A. Chronicles: I guess I forgot to mention that aside from being perky and funny, the Journ Juniors have also caught the shutterbug. A look at the Multiply group of the College will tell you how many are they in the Mulitply universe. Plus, during their batch registration, a lot of them are seen armed with digicams. Hmmm. So while the morning dead air filled the Department, Absie was taking pictures (I used the term "mugshots") using Mimi's camera. Then he turned to me for this camwhorring moment, making this picture the official R.A. pic of 2nd sem, 07-08. More of Mimi's enrollment here. ^___^ Anyway, last Monday was the lunch treat for the R.A.s and the rest of the admin staff of CMC. A lot of friends have expressed negative forecasts that it'll just be another Gloria's feast. Hell no! We had Sinigang na Bangus and Adobo (cooked by Ate Tering, I heard) with mounds of Jasmine rice. YUM! Aside from that, Ayeen (Broad's R.A.) and I helped out the admin R.A.s Micah and Melai in preparing classcards. Afterwhich, Melai and I stayed for a three-hour daldalan until the College Sec knocked some sense into us to get ourselves moving. Haha. Being the Registration Assistant of the department closest to my heart is definitely love. ♥ It's one for the books because not everyone gets a chance to be one, to witness how it's like and to have an opportunity to meet, if not interact with, fellow Journ majors and Journ professors. I was told that as far as Admin was concerned, no one applied for a Journ reg. assistant, and it was just lucky I was in the right place at the right time. Lucky too, that I get to breeze through the new enlistment system überhassle-free. And whether I get paid or not, if ever given a chance, Im'a do it all over again. ^____^
With a very hectic first sem, a hurried sembreak and a week of R.A.-ing, it wasn't hard for me to be all psyched up for getting into acad mode. Unfortunately, it seemed the universe conspired to make the slob that I am overrule. First days. With only two semesters left to finish, I should get used to professors who get in the acad bubble much later than we do (or way faster than we do). But no, I ended up not liking my first week much. A's sarcasm is enough to keep me interested, but writing is still a fear I have yet to overcome. JC's jokes aren't too funny, especially if he's late. Good thing we he gave us a free day. Q is cool, but really really lax. Not a good sign for nerdy-me, but a good one for slob-me. B's 500-word essay task (and homework too!) is hate. But I know I aced the essay so haha. JZ makes the tallest order of college life seem easy. Which is good lest I lose my sanity. K made us watch a good flick. Syllabus looks promising though, and I'm a bit excited. But since first days of classes are usually not taken to the brim, a lot of time was spent hanging out and pigging out. Last Wednesday, perhaps, was the wala lang day for me, as the afternoon was spent making daldal with Ayrie, exploring Teacher's Village and discovering Cafe Quezon. Or maybe not, because around morning the Exec.Board of the org had its semplanning at McDo Philcoa and they included the assistant team directors (me and others), so from morning to lunch time I was pigging out on McFood and McTransFat. I swear I must've gained a lot of pounds that day. 18 units. 6 on research. 3 on writing. Ngiyaargh. Sana kayanin.
