I cant sleep and randomly remembered a time when i was 20 years old and just got contact lenses and loved them bc I always hated my glasses. I also started the third year of uni so I travelled down to the uni town pretty far from where I live and packed stuff out etc this was on saturday. That evening i realised my dumbass left my spare contacts at home, all of them. Classes would start on monday morning so i would have to start uni in glasses. That thought was simply unbearable. So I spent the next day travelling to my hometown back to the uni town (around 260 km) FOR A FEW FUCKING CONTACT LENSES instead of catching up with friends shopping groceries, everything else.
God I remember that when I had to rest my eyes and couldnt put in my contacts id rather just not wear my glasses. I was straight up walking the streets and commuting nearsighted. I attended classes where I only put on my glasses to see the fucking whiteboard. I went to a party once without any visual aid and didnt even recognize most people unless i heard their voices and tried so hard not to squint suspiciously at everyone lmao.
Dont get me wrong I still dont like myself in glasses. But I think i matured enough to be able to go around people with them without feeling horrible mostly bc i ran out of fucks to give and honestly thats sometimes a relief.
