mildly interesting but there's apparently a second komtar in johor baru. it was already hard enough finding historic imagery of the penang komtar and that is the one everyone talks about. this one seems to have basically fallen off the collective conciousness radar. the building still exists but the podium mall was completely rebuilt around 2010. for all i know this building was modelled after the penang one, there's even a resemblance if one squints.

i find it mildly but constantly interesting how the shape of A Light Bulb has seemingly been burned into people's collective conscious. I would believe Google has somehow not only tethered their ai overview to image results in code (meaning blocking one could block the other) but it's now trying to evade being selected, like, in ublock origin which I'm using.
I opened the ublock control panel to remove a bad filter because somehow all results were missing from the Google results page. It fixed that issue but when I reloaded the page -- even with ublock off -- the ai overview was gone, too, and won't come back, so I can't select it to block.
