A long time ago, there lived two races: Humans and Monsters. However, a war broke out. After a very long, and life threatening war, the Humans were victorious. Monsters were then sealed underground, under the great Mt. Ebott, by a magic spell that kept them there. Only the power of 7 human souls could break the barrier.

100 years later, a young child named Chara, who belonged to a technologically obsessed family, fell from the surface and into the underground. They were found by young Asriel Dreemurr, the son of King Asgore and Queen Toriel. Chara was quickly welcomed by the Dreemurr family, and immediately had forgotten of their human life. They were accepted as a monster.

One day, though, Asriel had a very twisted idea. He remembered how they tried to make butterscotch-cinnamon pie for Asgore, but instead of Cups of Butter, they put in buttercup flowers. Needless to say, the king became very ill. Well, he recommended an idea to Chara. If Chara ate buttercups and let Asriel take their soul, Asriel could cross the barrier. Chara reluctantly agreed, willing to die for their monster family and neighbors.

24 hours. That’s how long it took.

In only a short 24 hours, Chara died from the poison. They constantly cried in pain, begging for the pain to stop. Once Chara died, Asriel took their soul and crossed the barrier. Once they crossed, Chara brought their body using Asriel’s body to a golden flower bed. However, Chara and Asriel, sharing one body, were attacked. Asriel wished to fight back, but Chara would not let them. They picked up the body and brought it back. Once they got home, they collapsed into dust. Chara and Asriel were dead.

After this grieving time, Asgore and Toriel split up, Toriel going into hiding with the royal scientist, W.D Gaster. At this current time, the underground is going through a bit of a food shortage, and because of the lack of sunlight and tree exposure, an airborn oxygen shortage. Everyone in the underground now had to wear an oxygen tank on their back. The initial solution was to blow all the oxygen into the air...but that wouldn’t be enough.

Dr. Gaster had to think of a solution...for monsters, and for humans that could fall down at any given time. That is when Gaster had the idea. All monsters would be transformed into oxygen producing robots. The idea of it was that if lungs covert air into carbon dioxide, why couldn’t the reverse be true? Robots that run on carbon dioxide and oxygen, and reproduce fresh oxygen into the air. Gaster expected the air to be safer for the next generation of monsters...however, he thought wrong. The monsters who had children gave birth to...robot-monster hybrids. They felt no pain, but it was very...weird to see. Even Toriel and Asgore were transformed...and now everyone was either a robot, or a cyborg. Disgusted and embarrassed by the royal scientist, Toriel left the lab and went into the abandoned RUINS.
