I think that Cale, when he had become Naru, the son of Duke Fredo, probably had onse thought to himself "why all the uncles I get are always so shitty." And laughed at the irony of the situation.

Hollanov microfic - Uncles
"Shit," Ruby cursed as she stopped Jade from falling into the bushes outside the frat house they had just left. She, somewhat clumsily, managed to get her sister in a sitting position on the pavement before she rubbed the palms of her hands into her eyes.
What the fuck was she meant to do now?
They were home from college for study break and Jade had heard about this party from an old high school friend. They had told their parents they were only going to catch up with old friends but now they were both extremely drunk and had no way home. Ruby couldn't exactly drive right now and Jade was in an even worse position than she was.
She ran through the possibilities in her head.
She couldn't call her parents. As wonderful as they were, that would mean an extremely long and boring lecture about responsibility come morning. No thank you!
Arthur was her next thought. But their little brother was likely sound asleep. He was the captain of his high school hockey team and he took his responsibility WAY too seriously, in Ruby's opinion. He had a game the next day, Ruby and Jade were expected to attend. Ruby groaned as she remembered this. He certainly wasn't going to be able to ge them out of this jam.
Their sister, Amber, was too young to drive and Ruby shuddered at the idea of calling either set of their grandparents.
All their other friends were either still away at school or absolutely wasted inside the house they had just stumbled out of.
"Fuck. FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!" Ruby cursed as she scrolled through her phone.
"Call Illyaaaaaa," Jade slurred from her position on the ground.
"What?" Ruby faltered as she had indeed just come across her uncle's name in her contact list. Fucking twin intuition.
"Ilya and Shhhane arrrrre here already, right?" Jade mumbled into her hands.
Ruby could have rejoiced. Her uncles had just arrived that afternoon for Arthur's game tomorrow. Ilya would pick them up and let them stay with them at their Montreal apartment and then drop them back at their parents tomorrow without another word. It was perfect.
They might have to deal with an awkward Uncle Shane lecture about the whole situation but it would be SO much better than what their parents would have unleashed on them. Plus this way, they would get Ilya cracking jokes at Shane's attempt at discipline and make pancakes simultaneously.
Ruby found his number and pressed the call button. It only rang twice before he answered.
"Uncle Ilya, I need a BIG favour," Ruby pleaded.
"Put your location on. I am coming," Ilya responded before hanging up. No other questions followed.
Ruby laughed as she switched on her location and sat next to her sister to wait.
Most uncles aren't even your parents' brothers. There your dad's best friends.
