Here’s a small UmiMaki ficlet (almost a drabble) that I came up with after hearing a prompt on the Idol Fanfic Heaven Discord.
Prompt: Write your second favorite ship out on a date.

The stars were beautiful, Umi thought as she looked up at the endless night sky that was painted with brilliant, faraway lights.
But, Umi couldn’t help but glance over at the girl next to her, whose eyes seemed to light up like stars as she stared upwards.
Of course, she should be looking up instead. That was the purpose of this date together. But Maki lying there, in all her beauty and grace, distracted Umi over and over.
She would normally be embarrassed when she grabbed onto Maki’s hand, or when they stared at each other, face to face. But in this case, those gestures felt right.
“W-What is it?” Maki asked, as she turned to see Umi staring, and their fingers intertwined.
“Nothing,” Umi said with a smile. Then after thinking for a long time about the words she wanted to say, she spoke again.
“I’m just stargazing.”
