FOR YOUR CONTEMPLATION Running to be still 5:30 am peace, running on snow covered streets and ravines in Toronto, Canada. Just before the military comes to remove the 10 cms of snowβ¦.(an insider poke of silly political leaders of Torontoβs past). Running gives peace of mind but was also frequently disturbed by a very old pattern of punishing myself. Extreme exertion to exhaustion was the value, which is probably one of the reasons ultramarathons have been a preferred outlet. Thanks to wonder coach Normand DβEon, I am gently led to run to enjoy, rather than to endure. Itβs amazing how early childhood conditioning clings to even aging minds and bodies like dried fruit on a limb unwilling to fall to the ground. A lifetime of pushing boulders up mountains is slowly being replaced by running free of burden. So at this early hour I give thanks just for the chance to run, and run unburdened. Itβs worthwhile to examine oneβs early childhood conditioning. Because it is possible, even likely, that those ghosts of the past rattle unhelpfully now.
