Malthaziel, Angel of Death

Humanity's extinction rendered his purpose obsolete. With no souls remaining to guide, the Angel of Death was left without function for the first time since Creation.

Despite the absence of mortal souls, reports indicate Malthaziel continued traversing the layers as though fulfilling his original assignment. The purpose of this behavior is unknown.

Little information exists regarding Malthaziel outside of his assigned duties.

STRATEGY:

Malthaziel's movements are calculated and precise making it hard to predict his attacks, managing to parry them will leave him perplexed, opening up a window for healing.

Unlike his brother, Gabriel, his attacks do not halt during his taunts.

for many circumstances and reasons the concept of beauty and what is beautiful in culture and the value it has or the thing it possess has for possessing it has come up for me lately. and I'm just sitting here and thinking about streetcleaners

they are CLEANERS. their purpose is to remove the detritus and dirt. the imperfectly tended is not a beauty they could value. their base programing and purpose of being is predicated on the idea of the orderly and clear. openness and cleanliness are valued to them. no obstructions or ill defined spaces. Nothing that can rot.

However, their urge to clean remained, and after the fall of mankind, they began burning any organic matter they came across in an effort to purify the world. (source: terminal data)

vacancy and emptiness is beautiful to them in a way I think. It is their goal, what they strive for. They see cleaning as removal. They started removing all organic life, pollution or not by human standards. But to them they were clearing away what did not belong; removing the stain upon the earth. They were making things set right again. Safe and clean and good. Desirable.

They were trying to fulfill a purpose that was not longer obligation. It became a choice. They CHOSE to do this. They chose what would equate to being satisfying to them. Satisfaction is something they can achieve. They have an opinion on what is satisfying to their eye. They desire to have things removed from what is beneath it. This is a rudimentary start to the concept of beauty.

I don't think they can appreciate beauty in the grotesque or disorderly. I think it only repulses them because of that 'itch to clean' that they have deeply rooted in them. It causes them disquiet. Maybe it's kind of like an OCD compulsion to clean in a way? I don't have enough knowledge to be confident in that assessment tho so that's one of those 'talking out my ass moments'

Beauty in the inorganic. beauty in the barren. beauty in the unnatural. beauty in absence. beauty in void. beauty in null. What a terrible contradiction for them to so desire absence as beautiful when they are social creatures that always have another there. Never alone, never perfect beauty, never able to be content with the absence of another.

and like, hell is absolutely hell for them. its a never ending repulsion of organic disorderly materials... except... for Violence.

I don't know how they feel about structures truly. As a thought experiment, lets say there are some on the surface of the earth that will never go down to hell and the infinite organic material there. I think if they run out of organic materials on the surface, and amidst their cannibalization of each other as imperfect pollutants, surely they start to turn their attention to inorganic things.

Things that did not belong there until they were built to be there. Things that obstruct the horizon. Things that pollute the land with the taint of human folly and ambition coated in arrogance that they should rearrange this world. it must be reset to be complete.

That's the train of thought I come to. So i begin to think that arid land like the open salt flats are something like the ideal of beauty for them. the less the better. And I think if any of them spend too long in 7-1 /// Garden of forking paths, then they will start to claw at the walls and grind the stones into dust to be patted down and made level only to have hell introduce to them more and more of it, or an endless bit of flesh beneath.

and on the surface too, at that point what a torture the sky would be once the smog finally clears and then there are stars strewn in disarray all above them. an endless tapestry of a disgusting mess.

I think they have a special sort of revulsion at scraphead machines. I think swordsmachines and otherwise modified machines are not satisfying to their senses. There is a special sort of animosity in their confrontations.

OC wise, Waster having the need to preserve the self being amplified by their batch type of being a self preservationist probably influences their feelings on this.

Waster also ironically is disfigured and unable to comprehend they are also among the ones changed by hell to something other. I mean don't get me wrong, I don't think Waster has any kind of thought that they're gorgeous or perfect or anything. But I do think that Waster disapproves of modifications as desirable yet accepts the practicality and necessity of them given their place in Hell and the need to survive.
