juliana breaks my heart so much. I don't understand all the hate she gets. she saw her sister get shot and die on the street in front of her and then everything started to fall apart for her. and the same thing for frank. i saw a lot of people say how much they hated him but he's also such a good tragic character. i love the turn they take with him. his character growth is one of my favorite thing's about the show. like listen i enjoy a good villain and john is certainly one (he's probably my favorite character in the whole show) but also there's something to be said about frank and juliana's stories. about how ordinary they are. and while john is supposed to be the "what would you have done? character" I think frank and juliana are the other side of that coin. they were born into that world. they didn't have any choice in any of it. they tried being passive and for frank, that practically meant life or death. they were forced to act. juliana was pushed to act by hope and frank by tragedy (and a little bit vice versa). john's story proves that even when you try and do everything for a fascist system you will eventually have your life torn apart by it because by definition it's non-sustainable while frank and juliana's stories are what happens after.
