THAT'S WHAT I CALL DOMINANCE. NEW MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMP
Lerone Murphy KOs Aaron Pico via spinning back elbow in 1st | UFC 319
another KOTY contender
Khamzat Chimaev impregnates Dricus Du Plessis to become UFC MW champion.
Just raw dogged that man for like 20+ minutes.
That's got to be the worst any champion has ever lost the belt. Sure some guys got beat up worst. Some got stopped instantly. But that was baaaaaaaad. Completely pantsed.
50-44 is a lie. That was closer to 50-42. DDP had 1 ok round and it was the 5th after they stood them up like 3x.

Threw this up on Twitter but kind of surprised the general consensus after 319 is that Chimaev is an unbeatable, unstoppable force at MW because he ragdolled Dricus. Like yeah, I thought Chimaev would gas after a dominant round 1 but it turns out Dricus is worse than Usman and Burns (which should’ve been obvious). Those two were scrambling up from the bottom, playing guard to sweep to create space, fighting off takedowns, etc. Just way more to offer than the silverback gorilla strength of DDP. Hard to gas when your opponent is offering 0 resistance whatsoever.
The thing is I need to see Chimaev beat guys who are 1) in their prime 2) actually skilled at the things he wants to do 3) actually skilled at the things Chimaev doesn’t want to do. Don’t get me wrong, I’d favor Chimaev against any 185lber out there right now. But there things we have not seen Chimaev have to deal with.
For example, who is the best range striker that Chimaev has beaten? Probably Usman? Like Whittaker is a blitzer who is prone to being blown out early by big, long athletic types like Chimaev and DDP. Usman has the best actual range kickboxing skills of the list of Chimaev opponents and he arguably took two rounds off of him by just sticking out the jab and being tough to out wrestle. And that isn’t even necessarily the game Usman likes to play. He’s a come forward pressure fighter at his best.
Or, who is the best scrambler Chimaev has faced? Burns. A guy who probably should’ve been a 155lber and was able to give Chimaev hell just because he wasn’t able to hold Burns down for long periods of time.
How does Chimaev fare against someone who’s long, fast, and wants to have a range kickboxing match? Will he be able to just barrel that person over immediately from out at range? Or how does he handle someone looking for a straight up grappling match? Who will push the pace at 100 miles per hour looking to get control positions?
Genuine questions I have. Not because I think Chimaev can’t solve those problems but because I’d like to see him actually do it. I don’t like to ascribe wins before we see the fight, especially with deserving contenders like MW has right now. There are 4 guys with unique (and flawed) games vying for a title fight right now and I think they all bring something new and different to a fight with Khamzat.
Team khamzat because I want bro to keep his aura
Michael Page memes his way to UD over Jared Cannonier
MVP aura farms and memes his way to another win. Man is out here landing 5 punches over 10 minutes and winning fights because MMA fighters are too scared and too slow to get into range with him. Cannonier lucked out and collided with MVP in the third. Ended up on top for the entire round scoring but not being able to get the needed finish.
I hope MVP stays at 185lbs and just keeps doing this. All the way up to the title.
