Magomed Ankalaev takes the unanimous decision over Alex Pereira. He is your new UFC LHW champion.
LOL this is what you all get. You thought MMA was supposed to bring you joy? Nope! Ankalaev is the champion MMA fans deserve.
Ankalaev must be fast, accurate, and hit hard because he basically got Pereira to abandon throwing combinations instantly. Just from the rip, Pereira was fighting the fight Ankalaev wanted. Low output out fighting mixed with the occasional blitz into range. While Pereira was having success with leg kicks, it became harder and harder for him to get them off as Ankalaev kept pressing forward and trying to score takedowns (which he never did).
Pereira looked so unprepared for this type of fight, which is wild because this is the only type of fight Ankalaev ever has. Scored it 3-2 Pereira but not mad about how this one was scored (except for the judge who gave it to Ank 4-1, you're crazy).
I'd be lying if I said this was a good fight or a fun fight but this is one you have to watch back to try to pick at Pereira's brain as it happens.
Ignacio Bahamondes submits Jalin Turner in the 1st round
Wow. Not even like a subtle set up or anything. Bahamondes is like 6'3, so those legs are long but that was way too easy. Bahamondes gets put on his back and decides he's good from there. Really works Turner over with elbows from the bottom before throwing up a triangle that forces the equally freaky long LW to tap.
Big win for Bahamondes. Big knock against Turner's growth as a grappler.

Justin Gaethje does it again! Wins out in war with Rafael Fiziev.
Gaethje and Fiziev basically had the same fight again, which is fine since their first fight was fantastic.
Fiziev got off to another hot start, but chose to wrestle a bit. Scored two takedowns in the first. Didn't do anything with the first but was able to get to a reverse triangle position with the 2nd that saw him with top position on Gaethje. Rained down a bunch of 12-6 elbows to Gaethje's body from there. Back on the feet, much like the first fight. Fiziev's explosion of offense overwhelmed Gaethje early. He was battling in those clinches for knees. The body kick was landing really well. Gaethje dialed in in round 2 though. Got right after Fiziev with constant pressure, pouring on exchange after exchange as it became clear Fiziev was tiring out. Fiziev was giving up more space and not really firing back with the same intensity as the round moved on. Gaethje slapped a left hook up that he used to grab the neck of Fiziev and pull him into an uppercut that floored him. Landed some nice shots while Fiziev was down but he managed to get to his knees and battle back to his feet. Fiziev recovered in round 3 and really tried to get off to an early start. Started spamming kicks, landing like 3 or 4 body kicks in a row at one point. But Gaethje just stayed on him with clinch work and close exchanges. Just unrelenting. Started going to kicks himself when FIziev was switching stances looking for the head kick.
Gaethje wins out. Crazy he's still winning these kinds of war at 36 years old. Not sure what you do with the guy next but what a fighter.
I love when Anik is like, βwe have this highly anticipated fight between these two random fighters. Lots of chatter! People definitely have opinions about this fight! Expectations even!β
Ank and Pereira having one of the more slow paced title fights in recent memory. Ankalaev is pushing Pereira back with pressure and low volume looking to counter. Pereira is also trying to counter but is having success with the low kicks. Ank managed to hurt Pereira in the 2nd but hasn't been able to build a ton of offense or take Pereira down. I got it 2-1 Pereira.
