In your monster au for Ud, I have a question: So you know how Matt's a merman, Mike's a werewolf, and Josh is a Wendigo? Do they have like triggers that makes them transform or is it only under like a full moon or some shit like that? Like if Matt accidentally spilled a water bottle on himself would he lose his legs or what?
Sorry for the late reply. I was out all of yesterday celebrating my birthday, which is actually today.
Anyways, Mike and Josh shift when they lose control. They mostly lose control when get angry, hungry, or upset. Full moons increase Mikes aggression, which makes it harder for him to stay in control, but theoretically, its possible for him to stay human during a full moon (though given that it’s him, it very very hard too).
Josh was born a wendigo, so controlling is shifting is like second nature. He’s most likely to do it when he’s hungry, but given that as a wendigo he’s always hungry, most of the time he’s fine. What really makes him lose control is anything about his friends and family (mainly talking about his sisters, and one of his friends getting hurt).
Mike, on the other hand, was a regular human who got bit. He lacked self control before he was a werewolf, so learning it after he’s literally a monster that can kill people is very difficult. He can shift from a lot of things, when he’s upset, or frustrate, or in pain, or even when he’s kinda horny. Unlike Josh, Mike actually feels guilty over the people he kills, and so he’s forever on a quest to learn how to control himself because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone else.
Matt, the little cutie, is mostly fine. All mermaids have a slight shapeshifting ability, and luckily, Matt’s allows him to “grow” legs. Splashing water on him wont do a thing, but he does have a limit to his shapeshifting abilities, like Ashley. His ability to keep his legs ranges from 12 hours to none at all. It depends on a lot of things, how tired he is, and how long he was doing it the day before, if he’s hurt. At the end of the day, he’s got to return to water or he will die. Which is why the gang always has to stay at a motel with a bath tub. Matt sleep in it, and sometimes when he’s feeling homesick, he’ll dump some salt in the water so it feels more like the ocean (which he misses dearly)
