You know as a kid growing up Orthodox I never understood the need to cover arms or legs or collarbone or hair, I never considered them particularly noteworthy features or how anyone could find them particularly sexy. And then now I log into Tumblr dot com and see people freak out over a character wearing a tank top so they can see their arms, or freaking out about someone's calves showing, or their collarbone, or their hair........I guess there's something for everyone. Or maybe I was always too ace to understand tzniut lol.

im trying to get into sewing because I want to make my own clothes. thrifting tznius clothing is a chore lmao

I have this one dress I absolutely love and I already altered it slightly to make the neckline higher but it complicated the sleeves a bit because I have no idea what I'm doing. still perfectly wearable still a beautiful dress but I want to be able to make my own stuff "from scratch"

the biggest hurdle right now is getting over my literal Fear of the sewing machine. like we're privileged enough to have been left one by an ex-roommate, but it's loud and the peddle is sensitive and when it goes really fast it freaks me out lol! (I can't drive either btw!)

but beyond all that it's the same reason I make my own jewelry really, I want to be able to reply "thanks! I made it myself!" when someone compliments me!!! people like that are the coolest people, I want to be one of them

so uh yeah if you have sewing resources for beginners feel free to send them my way because I'm trying to force a hyperfixation and learn a bunch of shit that will help me when i get off my tuchus and actually start doing it lol
