I’m a queer Jew in a queer household, and we need to move, but we need help affording it.
We have a roommate who has been difficult to live with the entire time they’ve been here (more than a year and a half)—they don’t help around the house; they leave rotting food & trash out, chicken bones and open pill bottles where the cats can find them; the rotten smell from their room often reaches the shared area; when they aren’t fighting with my roommates, they’re having loud (sometimes slur-riddled) arguments with their friends on speaker phone. We started by asking nicely, but we’ve been dealing with this for so long with no progress; in fact it’s just getting worse, and escalating to a point we can’t keep enduring it.
We don’t want to live with them, and they clearly aren’t happy living with us, but they refuse to move out, and we can’t get the landlords to enforce the lease against them without also evicting us. We’re worried that if we stay, we’re going to be dealing with an infestation, or the cats are going to get hurt eating something they shouldn’t from their room.
So now we’re trying to find a new place without the problem roommate, but we need about $1500 to help cover a deposit and moving expenses. We’re eyeing a move-out date in September or October, depending on how quickly we can get funds together. I might be able to save up and cover some but not all of it, so we need help.
