The Master of Uttenheim was active in South Tyrol (now divided between Austria and Italy) in the second half of the fifteenth century and specialized in religious art.
St. Martin is here shown cutting off half his military cloak to give to a beggar. (Despite appearances, he is not, in fact, stabbing the beggar in the head.) St. Nicholas is shown in bishop's garb.
