Recently, Cassandra Clare shared that she had just finished writing "The Last King of Faerie" and that she had turned in the manuscript some days before.

Though it was initially announced that it was going to be published in spring 2026, the first book in the series now will be published in fall 2026. The presale page of Better in Black on Walmart confirms it in the description, stating the following:

Okay, so we've seen you all commenting "Well, this is not official cause it doesn't come from Cassandra Clare, this could be a typo, Walmart is not a reliable source".

Oh, well... We did in fact ask Cassie about it and she ACTUALLY replied on an Instagram comment, confirming that TWP1 will be published in fall 2026 (North American time)

(Although she's mistaken here, she DID announce it for spring, it was never fall. But that's just the way Cassie's memory has been crashing lately, considering the issues with some facts stated in Better in Back that contradict the previous canon.)

So, yeah, this was inevitable. We knew this was coming. And you may say "But she said she had turned it in already!"

Yes, she turned in the book, but please do remember that there's still lots to do afterwards. Even if the manuscript is finished, editing it takes some months. The editing stage implies a deeper revision for corrections, rewriting and potentially reworking from scratch parts of the text, all that takes no less than 4 months. Don't forget the continuity reading too!!! Plus the time designing the inside of the book and the cover. Also, printing usually takes place several months before the release date, it's not something they do 1 week before the publishing date, they need a timeframe that allows transporting the hundreds of thousands of books they print with major writers.

We also haven't had any news on the cover (let alone an established release date). Be reminded that Cassie reveals the book covers 1 year prior to the publication of the books. And as this is the start of a new series and the first stage of the grand finale, this book needs more time to properly advertise it, they will likely send ARCs some months before like they did with BIB. Let's not forget Cassie is publishing on a new publishing house, so they need time to make the people know they will be publishing TWP.

Considering all this, there was definitely not enough time, we're only 6 months away from the start of spring in North America😅

So, this is absolutely not a surprise. This was needed. There was no other option. This is all for the best, we all want this book to be worth it. We've been waiting for it for over a decade. The Wicked Powers better be the best books ever written.

Un fantasma puede viajar a través de un Portal igual que un Cazador de Sombras. No sabía eso. ¿No es gracioso?

Bueno, pensé que era gracioso.

El Portal se abrió en la cocina.

La cocina se ve bien. Sólo soy un espíritu atrapado entre el mundo y el vacío, pero creo que elegiste un tono excelente para las paredes. Siempre has sido muy bueno con el color.

Aparte del color, lo cual no fue una mala sorpresa, sí que hubo otra que nos sorprendió de verdad. Kit.

Kit estaba en la cocina. Llevaba esa chaqueta que le gusta, con cuello de borrego. El sol entraba por la ventana y lo iluminaba.

Todo en Ty se congeló. Incluso yo casi llego a congelarme también. He visto a Kit, claro. Lo visito a veces. Pero como no lo esperaba, me di cuenta de lo diferente que era a cuando vivía en el Instituto con nosotros. Parece mayor y más alto. Más musculoso. Ahora se mueve como un Cazador de Sombras. Elegante.

Es hermoso.

Escuché a Ty respirar como nunca antes lo había hecho. Como si estuviera jadeando, como si le hubieran dado un puñetazo y estuviera tratando de respirar y tratando de respirar y no pudiera.

Susurró: 

—Así no se limpia un arma.

Entonces ya no hubo razón para quedarse.

Quizá había una razón. Quizá eran las manos de Kit aplastándose sobre sí mismas, hasta que pensé que los huesos se romperían como lo hace un corazón.

Pero Ty no podía ver eso. Ty estaba sufriendo. Me puse a su lado, me envolví en él, le abracé mientras volvíamos a atravesar el Portal. Estaba triste. Tenía muchas ganas de verte, Jules. Pero Ty necesitaba que estuviera allí con él.

Si sueñas esto, tal vez sepas que estuvimos en tu casa. Siento que no nos quedáramos.

Julian, no sé qué hacer. Ty extraña a Kit más de lo que creía que podía extrañar a alguien. Lo extraña tanto ahora como el día que se fue. Lo quiere igual. Creo que siempre lo hará y eso me asusta.

Kit está acostumbrado a no necesitar a la gente, pero Ty sí. Tiene miedo de necesitar a la gente, pero eso es solo porque la necesita de verdad. No va a dejar de necesitar a Kit. No sé si Kit siempre necesitará a Ty. Pero Ty siempre lo necesitará a él.

Irene dice hola. Le estoy enseñando a hacerse la muerta.

Thule is an alternate dimension and the the time there is after the timeline that the non thule characters (the timeline we are seeing in the books) are living in. Livia was older then the non thule Livia and if she appears in TWP she's gonna be around 20. I think Dru is still alive in thule bc livvy said that Dru left and never returned. We also have to remember that Thule Kit is still alive. Maybe the alternate dimensions of kit and dru will be evil. Though they will be a little older then the non thule kit and dru but i dont think that will matter much.

It makes me so happy to know about kit and mina. The way Tessa told that she rides on hs back. It’s seriously really sweet. And the way Tessa is so protective of him now. comparing them to her children with Will. 

And I dont believe that Kit actually has a girlfriend. I feel like it could be ghost livvy and since tessa doesn’t know she is just assuming it to be a girlfriend.
