Snapshot:
Gay Parent Magazine’s November-December issue #157 marks our 26th year of publishing. When Gay Parent Magazine was first launched, LGBTQ parenting information was not readily available as it is today, so we received extremely positive feedback from parents feeling isolated. Since then, we’ve witnessed and reported on many milestones, from first gay adoptions and LGBTQ singles and couples fulfilling their dreams of raising children, to legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide, and watching our LGBTQ community achieve pivotal roles in local, state and now federal government.
On our cover meet Morgan Henry Kerr and her family. Morgan says she is “a creative, proud wife and queer mom from the Pacific Northwest in her perimenopause and preschool era.” Morgan talks about her parenting journey and where it has led her.
November is National Adoption Month and in this issue we feature Brian and Don of the Hiller-Dupont family of New York. Brian's and Don's musical backgrounds brought them together. The couple became parents after adopting Brandon. Brian observed the interaction between his husband and their nephew, and in a flash, ran outside, and said, “We need to add to our family.” Interested in adding to your family? Use our list of adoption and foster care related resources and services in this issue to build your family.
David F.M. Vaughn and Gavin Lodge are the hosts of an irreverent, informative, and inspiring podcast called Gaytriarchs. Read why they chose that name and about their families. David summed it up best by stating, “it is progress when a comedy show about gay parenting can exist.”
Regular contributor, Ali Rothlizzi writes about her family attending their local Pride celebration on Long Island, New York as well as their vacation to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania.
Learn about a new social platform for LGBTQIA+ families called Tumy Time.

Over 100 schools, ranging from nursery to college, from across the country are listed by state. Includes schools for students with learning differences, bilingual schools, all girls or all boys, boarding, religious schools, and schools specializing in the creative arts. Our advertiser spotlight features the Stratford School in California contributing an article on fostering emotional intelligence in your child. August 20th - 11 months (yes I’m a day late!)
Stopped the domperidone yesterday, and used the last of my milk freezer bags. 11 months of fresh pumped milk, combined with: 513 bags/1282.5oz/38.5L of frozen milk sitting in our freezer, not to mention the spilled milk, or old milk turned bath milk. I did a rough calculation and probably close to 11,000oz! My supply has already plummeted in the 24 hours with no dom, so I expect I’ll be dried up within the week. I’m less emotional than I expected but still having feelings, it’ll probably get worse when we actually start using the frozen milk.
Kiddo is doing amazing; her physio and chiro have said she’s almost ready to walk, her development is ahead of schedule, and she is so very smart. She now loves dancing (booty bouncing, it’s hilarious), playing in water, going for walks, reading books. She likes turning the pages when you’re reading to her, and chasing the dog and cats.
We’re planning her first birthday party; it’ll be an outdoor covid celebration with a Dr Seuss theme. At most 20 people, it’s at a conservation area with a beach so lots of space for everyone. Also planning a smash cake photo session, since we never got pro photos of her. We’re trying to keep it low-key but there’s still so much to do. Photographer asked us for Pinterest ideas etc and I had nothing lol so now we have to pick an outfit and colours.
In personal news, my back is doing a lot better with chiro finally able to adjust it but still sore. So happy my wife took her 5 weeks of parental leave since she’s responsible for the baby that I can’t lift. We’re also going to be on a houseboat in a few weeks, no idea how that’ll go. My biggest worry? My postpartum period showing up while on a boat!

Mommy and mama got me a new outfit for my first day! They also cleaned up the closet and put in all my cool stuff! I can’t wait to play with it all and wear my new outfits.
