In my mind, the cycle of creation and destruction perpetuated by artificial intelligence is not equal, and not holy in the light of The Spawn.
Yes, AI creates. Yes, it consumes in order to create. But it is not an equal cycle; the cost for its creative acts is far too high. The cost of all it consumes, paraphrases and takes information from, the cost of the pollution upon the earth, the cost upon the communities near it, the cost of the land its data centres take up, the cost of the privacy it invades and the content it steals, the cost of the water it consumes to create.
Create is perhaps a bad word. It possesses no spark of creation, it only generates. There is no divinity in its harsh reproduction of genuine Spawn-blessed creation. It is a human artifice, besides. If its input and output were equal, if the sacrifice and result were equal, if it were the bare minimum of ethical in any sense of the word, perhaps my outlook would be different. As it stands, it is unbalancing and destructive. Yes, the Spawn is as much destruction as creation, in all its cyclical glory. But this is not a cycle. It is a spiral, with a definitive end we are speeding too fast towards for my liking. The Spawn’s cycle is sustainable. AI’s cycle is not.
