Mull has BEACHES, people, and Calgary is an absolute smasher.

This trip was last week, in the middle of a heatwave. According to my floating pink flamingo thermometer, the water was 18°C in a 6" layer at the surface, and 16°C below that. For Scotland, these are tropical temperatures!

On our way to this Maldives-style retreat, we visited the astonishing Lip na Cloiche garden near Ulva Ferry. Some magician has fitted an entire botanic garden, with multiple paths and trails, into the size of a largish suburban house garden. It must be seen to be believed.

A little further up the coast, we found a treasure chest such as you often find in the Highlands and Islands, which fortified us with sourdough cinnamon raisin buns for the rest of the narrow, winding road to Calgary.
