What I was confused about is what NOK is referring to in it ā I had assumed that was Next of Kin?
If so, were you upset at being Next of Kin for him? Otherwise I am not sure what you meant by you were upset with the doctors?

Yes NOK is next of kin. No I wasnāt upset at holding that position (although of course it should have been Mom or Dad butā¦ wellā¦ yeah)
Iām not really sure how to answer that question other than to say look again at what the NOK was advised he should be consideringā¦
Sure itās very innocent looking in unemotional text form but suffice to say NOK did not agree with the medical professional who kept pushing a certain option as āinevitableā, āthe kindest thingā and my favourite āsome might think it cruel to subject him to a half life because you arenāt ready to say goodbyeā. Dr Death thankfully found his expertise was required at a hospital upstate.
Nothing can ever prepare you for having to fight for somebodyās life in that kind of context. Still the most terrifying thing I ever had to do.

I'm really frustrated living in Canada because our healthcare system is such a mess that it's almost impossible to have a good quality of life if you're disabled, and if your disability causes you to have a bad quality of life they offer you MAiD (medically assisted suicide, basically.) At the moment, 5.1% of deaths in Canada are under MAiD.
BUT. If you express to a medical professional that you're feeling suicidal because of your quality of life, they will put you in the psych ward and treat you like you've committed a serious crime. It's like you can only want to kill yourself if it's doctor's orders I guess?
That's such an awful situation. Literally it's just outright eugenics. But like you said, they will still forcibly institutionalize you if you admit to suicidality. What do they even want at this point? They want us to disappear but only when they say so and we get no choice. I'm so sorry for you and everyone else that has to deal with this crap.
hello all, my hamster Peter woke up very lethargic and unable to eat or drink this morning. the vet diagnosed her with dehydration, low blood sugar and fluid in her abdomen which may indicate a tumor. she is currently being treated with sugar water and oxygen and will be getting more every 30 minutes but we do not know what will happen. I am leaving on a trip that I canāt delay or reschedule. Someone was supposed to care for her during our trip and will be staying with her after we have to leave in case she gets better, but itās likely she will not. if she doesnāt she will be allowed to either pass on her own or be humanely euthanized so she doesnāt have to remain in pain.
itās a hard decision to make but it really is the best thing that we can do for her.
I am praying she will make a full recovery still. I will update later.
