There are things that bother me about the deaths that I am going to discuss here. Not in a bad way, just in a way that makes me think about it more and more. My thoughts will be under a read more; I'm not a monster. I might be a bit late to this but I was just introduced to this series so I would like to say my piece. Everything here is said with appreciation for the source material.
I will start with the smallest things that I noticed first. Mark never tried to make his wife immortal. He knew how bad it was. Yet he inflicted it on others.
Brandon's death bothers me. He died in the eighties. Fentanyl was known but not widely dealt with like it is today. It would be hard to smuggle onto an island. That is unless one of two things happened. One, the fentanyl came from a medical facility on the island. Given what was there, it makes sense that there would be a doctor's office. More on that later. The other option, someone higher up got their star the drugs he used to function. Mark makes the most sense. His wife was terminally sick; he would have access to strong medications. He might not steal her medications but he steals from the nurses. Mark being involved would make sense to me but I can also see Brandon also having a legitimate episode with heat sickness and going to the medical center and being dosed and dying there, for the clean corpse. I don't think he's fully away and acting in control during the murders. He was the only one that died in relation to himself before his own death. Then he had to be broken into doing what he did. I will say it's fascinating to see how professional he is in regards to acting. What I mean is: during the clips we see of him in character there's no hints of anything wrong until hindsight is in effect.
Why do I think there is a medical facility? Simple. They had to do the autopsies in secret, on the island. Medical facilities have the tools and room to do the examinations.
Gary's death is brutal, but the wounds are fully visible even the ones we don't realize at first. His face is covered so we don't see that Gary is conscious until death (we can hear it though), but he's limp- like death. Sure enough, in the autopsy, his spine was broken and we saw that he had been paralyzed.
With Olivia there are more of the hidden details that don't sit right with me. First of all it's a voicemail, meaning she was alone and kind of left to fend for herself. There is also a vibe to her words that her stalker is a repeat problem that was ignored, as stalking is a pattern of behaviors. I would think that the higher ups (Mark) are ignoring her in this case, as Brandon is the one doing it.
Now we get to Nathan. Nathan was leaking and doing corporate espionage. It may not feel like that but that's what he was doing. Why do I bring this up? The camera angle on his death. It was a spy cam. It would have a bit awkward but it could be done. He just would have been wired to a vcr.
Rex got off scot free here. Pretty straightforward. Clean and miserable but nothing hidden.
And that's it. That's all I have to say. I look forward to Hi 09 and that's it for now.
