@eyayah234 one day I will figure out why your asks don't show up in my inbox, I swear
I think that The Originals was real wasted potential because when they first proposed a spin-off about the Mikaelson siblings, I expected a really cool set through the centuries prequel series with fun costumes, showing their journey since they first became vampires leading up all the way to Vampire Diaries. That would have fucked so hard.
Instead, we got them squabbling in modern day New Orleans. Like. Up until the crappy finale, the show wasn't bad. I loved seeing more of the siblings. But I do still think that the show underdelivered on what a show about the Mikaelson siblings could have been. Especially since it remained mostly Klaus and Elijah, they even shelved Rebekah for significant amounts of time, with the other siblings more or less being recurring characters at best rather than actual regulars... aside from the retconned in sister, who did get a more prominent role.
I just think that a show called The Originals should have focused on THE ORIGINALS. All of them. Not just the ones that were already major in TVD.
The fact that they put Hayley and the baby plot so very front and center was just kind of not exactly what I expected from the show.
Which also leads into my answer for the second part: Never watched Legacies, never will watch Legacies. I'm sure these girls are very cool characters - this verse IS great at making really cool characters - but I loathe the way all three of them came to exist and am very fine pretending they don't.
I loved seeing Klaus as a father, love when the ruthless ones get to be soft and to actually love. But, ya know, on account of them killing off Klaus, I will not get to see him be Hope's father, so the major appeal is lost to me.
And the twins... Forcing Caroline to suddenly be pregnant with someone else's babies and essentially baby-trapping her with her former teacher slash best friend's father figure was THE most disturbing thing Vampire Diaries ever dick. Just the concept of having a pregnancy forced onto you through magic and carrying babies that aren't even your own is just an absolute horror story of a pitch to me personally.
If the show had not fridged Joe and the twins got to be Alaric/Joe's kids, or if Caroline had gotten a "I want to be a mother and am pregnant with my own kids by my own choice" plotline instead of being magically forced to be pregnant, I would feel different about them, but the way the show wrote these characters into existence makes me really want to pretend they don't exist.
Again, I'm sure the grown up versions of these babies are interesting characters. I have seen there is gay in this show. A supernatural school concept sounds intriguing. But I really can't get over the conception of all three of them.
