deena's pretty bitey already. so what's she like in the universe of the vampire diaries et al? ;) still a human? a witch? a vampire? a werewolf? a hybrid?

oooh, i've actually thought about this one. π
deena starts off completely human.
after hawkins, she leaves town hoping to finally put everything behind her and starts researching her father's side of the family. growing up, that side was always... strangely absent.
her father never talked about them. every job he worked was a little odd. he'd disappear for days at a time. and whenever she asked questions, she'd get vague answers or none at all. so after everything settles, deena starts digging. every trail eventually leads to one place:
mystic falls.
naturally, she assumes she's researching genealogy. instead, she accidentally uncovers an entire supernatural community and realizes hawkins wasn't the exception... it was just the beginning. as she researches her family, she discovers that several of her ancestors practiced a very specific kind of magic. they weren't bennetts or part of a famous witch bloodline. they were known for one thing:
erasure.
not erasing people. erasing memories. concealing magical events. altering historical records. rewriting the narrative without rewriting reality. if a coven wanted a supernatural event forgotten... if a vampire massacre needed to disappear from the history books... if an entire bloodline needed to vanish from public record... they were the family you sought out.
i love the irony because deena spends her entire life chasing the truth... only to learn she comes from a family whose entire purpose was making sure no one else ever found it. now how she fits in with the other characters is an entire other story. if you're from that verse, come at me! i'm so down.
