Frederick Martin MacMurray (August 30, 1908 â November 5, 1991) Film and television actor and singer who appeared in more than 100 films and a successful television series during a career that spanned nearly a half-century, from 1930 to the 1970s.  In 1960, he turned to television as Steve Douglas, the widowed patriarch on My Three Sons, which ran on ABC from 1960 to 1965 and CBS from 1965 to 1972.  During that same time he also appeared in numerous Disney films.  MacMurray had a provision in his My Three Sons contract that all of his scenes on that series were to be shot in two separate month-long production blocks and filmed first, permitting him to pursue his career in film and leisure activities.   (Wikipedia)
Carl William Demarest (February 27, 1892 â December 28, 1983) Film and television actor, known especially for his supporting roles in screwball comedies by Preston Sturges and as Uncle Charley in the sitcom My Three Sons from 1965 until 1972. Demarest, who frequently played crusty but good-hearted roles, was a prolific film and television actor, appearing in over 140 films, beginning in 1926 and ending in the late 1970s.
