REMEMBERING HARRY UZOKA . Here’s the third installment of my TuTchT Comics Casting portrait of my brother Harry as super hero of color “Batwing.” As one of my greatest muses, I had several different options of images of Harry as Batwing in my files. As it turned out, my Comics Casting collabo with a Harry proved to be my last. His senseless murder took him from us only months later. For the past two years I’ve revisited those unused options.and, as ever, Harry lights up the room & ignites my imagination. His hard-to-describe powers of communicating volumes through a simple, wordless image are still in full effect. HARRY UZOKA REMEMBRANCE DAY No matter how much madness is going on in the world or in my personal life, I always look forward to those few days around the 11th of each month when I know I’ll sit for a number of hours at my drawing board and experience the smiles. laughter, self-reflection and inspiration that Harry always brought me… and continues to bring me. This practice accomplishes my main purpose of keeping Harry’s impressive body of work and image circulating through cyberspace, expanding his impact. But I also find that it continues to have a healing and renewing impact on me personally. Harry is literally still giving me what he gave me for those number of years we were blessed to be connected. GEORGE OKENY, one of the newest official members of our American Family!!! HUGE S/O to the eye-grabbing, soul-inspiring George Okeny on his recently-acquired citizenship, a very important and long-coming step on his storied journey. Although he has been an American icon of the Fashion Industry for some time —- evidenced most recently by his work as the face of SEVERAL of Ralph Lauren’s recent campaigns (google him to see his brilliant work with his son Zola, who is himself already a ground-breaking member of the Family of African-American Male Models, becoming the youngest model to have debuted at New York Fashion Week in 2018 at only 5 months old… working with father George and Moms, Yanii Gough, also a successful model of Haitian-American descent.) . I have a warm spot in my soul for Mr. Okeny for numerous reasons, not the least of which is his difficult journey across the globe as Sudanese Refugee, making him one of the “Lost Boys of Sudan.” Check out what he wrote on his page: . “I’m so happy to announce that as of today I’m a United States citizen, I wanna thank all my family and friends who have been supporting me on this journey.
