Wish I could accurately draw what post-hollowfication michiyo looks like because that is a CREATURE if I ever saw one
Read your post on elven ear binding and loved it, thought I’d share something similar I had for orcs and their tusk. Mainly the idea that orc “tusk” are not natural growths but instead a form of body modification done to orc men.
Orcs have naturally elongated canine teeth similar to primates, the bottom pair being forced out of the mouth to form “tusk” in men as a symbol of manhood. Young orc boys having metal or wooden rods and a sort of pulley-type structure placed into their mouth and behind their bottom canines, constantly applying pressure that slowly deform their teeth until their pushed completely out of the mouth. The process ofcourse being long and quite painful, but considering vital for the boys transition into manhood.
These protruding teeth do cause quite afew health issues in these tusked men. They can’t close their mouths properly, resulting in issues chewing and with drooling. Their speech becomes impaired due to alterations to the mouth shape. And due to the teeth being exposed they’re prone to being broken in fights or accidents. All of which being considered worth it to these orcish men.
love coming up with odd cosmetic things fictional people might do to attain some standard of beauty. They're people too! They're gonna have some beauty standards that are unhealthy to adhere to. it's just kind of a thing people have done throughout history.
every single trend towards a skinny ideal, especially things like tuberculosis symptoms being seen as beautiful. foot binding. skull shaping. steroid muscles. etc
my orcs also have methods to make their tusks grow in specific directions, like a spiral vs a more forward curve. I don't know exactly how they do it aside from the use of shaping cuffs at the base of the tusks, but some of the more dramatic alterations likely require dental surgery to totally shift the way the tusk's socket is shaped. Tusk growth can absolutely get out of hand, with larger spirals becoming particularly heavy, some shapes being easier to break, etc. but they put a lot of meaning into the shapes they choose for their own tusks, so it does give me a fun little extra detail to describe when I want to show off some piece of an orc's personality. the spiral shape, for example, is seen as a wise and peaceful shape, since it requires patience to grow the tusks all the way around into a circle, with a lot of dental intervention, and the shape also renders the tusks absolutely useless in a fight, as well as being heavier than more typical shapes.

Thrall
Thrall would be the kind of daddy that teaches you to make soap with animal fat and scolds you for taking hot showers. Not because it's manlier but because it's greener.
