Millenials vs Baby Boomers- Who's More Open to Sharing Information?
I found an interesting piece from retailcustomerexperience.com about customers’ willingness to share personal information with businesses and how it varies across different generations. The key findings from Mintel Research are summarized below, or click here for the full article titled, “60 Percent Of Millenials Willing To Share Personal Info With Brands.”
Millenials are much more willing to share personal information than baby boomers
60% of millenials will provide details about their personal preferences and habits to marketers
30% of millenials versus 13% of baby boomers would give up more private information, such as a cell phone number, in return for some type of incentive (coupon or discount)
27% of millenials will provide social media info versus 10% of baby boomers
17% of millenials will provide credit scores versus 8% of baby boomers
Fiona O’Donnell, category manager for retail, multicultural, lifestyles and leisure, sums up the findings nicely,
“Millenials may be more apt to share, or even over-share, relative to other age groups, but they are also the most diverse generations, so marketers must know how to take this information and tailor campaigns that will be engaging and meaningful”
