The Field
Origins~
There is a system, a powerful and lasting system, so ancient its simplicity seemed a sin. It has remained within human civilization, every human civilization, as if the concept were hardwired into us. It places the rich and empowered, an elite club, on the top and leaves the less fortunate groveling at the bottom. It is seen everywhere and has been solved nowhere.
There is another concept hardwired into humanity.
Fight.
No matter the situation, it is almost guaranteed that people will fight back. It that which makes us human; survive. Everything in us keeps us alive, our fear, our anger, all of our senses. Where there is corruption and injustice, there will follow rebellion in its path.
Our story follows a particular illustration of this concept.
In the year of X103 a new government was founded upon the values of community. We help those who in turn help us. The government watches with nurturing eye and tends to the weak and the feeble, helping and supporting its sheep. This soon, however, became an exclusive group. Those who received help from the leaders of the land became fewer and fewer in number until eventually, those in great need vastly outnumbered those who were receiving.
A society once built upon the concept of community was now built around this; they’ll only ever hear you if you were born in silver.
And that’s what they called them then; the Silvers. Those born into privilege, born into the silvery upside world, that is, the city. The rest inhabited the much more densely populated underground. It is here that our story takes place in the ripe years of the 80th decade.
Signs of Revolution~
The government is thriving per usual, lavishing its prized citizens with metal towers scraping the sky and factories spewing waste and toxin to the Underground. Their eye was blind to the broken per usual, but as leadership roles shifted and new laws passed, tension was rising in the slums.
On the 10th day of the 3rd month of the year X583, the first riot was held and the people of the Underground made their first stand. Various stories placed few people as the instigators of this event, but it seemed they were no more than ghosts, vanishing soon as they’d appeared. The next riot was held near 6th months after the first. Again, the instigators were no more than stories to the authorities.
It went on like this for some time, 2 years in fact. Riots springing up here and there, all months apart and seemingly peaceful, but it was enough to set the government on edge. It wasn’t until X585 that the riots bloomed into a revolution led by two youthful citizens of the Underground who remained nameless and masked.
They spoke of the fall of the government and the revolt of the people, serving to the authorities what they had coming to them. For another year or so this went on, these two they called the Faceless stirring the waters of revolution and feeding the fire of the people.
In X586 they revealed themselves as two children of the street by the names of MatR and Br33z. They led the first act of real defiance, boycotting for 7 days trade from the supplies of the government. From there it was on and off, a wild goose chase for these young insurgents who seemed to never be in the same place twice.
The Governments Play~
On the other side of the playing board there was the government, watching them with wary eye as they traveled across the map, spreading their cause leaving fury in their wake.
From the way high up of which few know about, an order was sent to a young operative to find these insurgents and bring them down. This command was given to J0rius, an agent of the government with great passion for what he did and the determination to get it done. Born a Silver and raised for the job, he made it his top ambition to bring the revolution to their knees. He was always aided by his partner of the law, a young and talented hacker fervent in his task of destroying the rebellion.
Luna Empire~
In the middle of the playing board was the Luna Empire. They were neither Silver nor scum but more of a mafia rather. They knew all about everyone and worked in the shadows, aiding those who best paid.
They’d built their kingdom over years of secrecy. By the time they’d made their way on the governments radar, it was too late for any advances. Rather than take them head on, the authorities rather proposed a deal. Luna Empires would not give them trouble, respect and acknowledge their leadership, and feed them information when it was asked. In turn, they would let them be to do what it was that they did.
At the head of this empire was a man named Mogus, a power hungry and money loving scoundrel who was good at what he did. His father had initiated Luna Empire and he had been his fathers heir to the throne. In his youthful 20′s he’d killed his father and taken the role as leader himself, threatening that anyone who crossed him would meet the same fate. He ruled with precision and care and appointed his childhood friend, S#ane, as his right hand man.
It was they who ruled the underground, the black market, and all things of the shadows.
Mogus was itching under the governments reign and soon became tired living under the pact his father had made. Knowing he couldn’t take the government head on, he decided to play his hand with the hot headed insurgents who had nothing to lose. He provided weaponry and resources to the revolution and information on them to the government. Whichever side won, he would remain untouched all the same.
Today~
The year is X857. J0rius remains on the hunt, determined as ever as D@niel closes in on the insurgents game. The revolution is on fire, their red flag raised high as judgement day nears and the whispers among the people are louder than ever. Mogus sits back on his throne of gold, watching with a foot on each side as the armies near the battlefield. Blood will be shed. Whichever way fate guides them, history will be made.
