The VW Amarok 2.0 Bi-Turbo diesel engine is a good performer with its 180bhp but it's not without its problems. A search through forums will reveal several issues, the most common being heavy oil consumption due to wear in the cylinders. Unfortunately, this oil consumption is often mistakenly blamed on the turbochargers, to further complicate matters this wear in the cylinders can also lead to oil contamination which will then cause the bearings in the turbos to fail. The upgrade is to the larger K04 turbo and includes a billet compressor wheel, 360-degree thrust bearing and cut back to the turbine wheel.
