Some BWBA era girls upon ye!
Yeah a very large portion of the fandom hates BWBA. I'm not a fan of a lot of it myself. But I have grown fond of these three!
I swear I am not drawing Ashima's outfit again (famous last words) but boy did I have fun decorating it to give a very similar look to her livery. She ended up giving "tall, beautiful woman" but I decided to keep that energy. Thomas can look up at her all googly eyed lol.
I was really excited to finally design Nia because not only do I actually really like her, we share the same name! People have criticized her livery as being stereotypical. And I am not Kenyan so take what I say with a grain of salt. But as a black fan, while I somewhat agree, I always loved seeing these patterns and similar on clothes because it's so unapologetically black so...idk I think the conversation deserves more nuance.
Rebecca's outfit is based on Muslim airline hostessess, they are always so classy looking. I love that a lot of the fandom have represented her engine design as a hijab in human form. The new series coming out this year is making me realize I like Rebecca more than I thought. I am so sorry Mattel is keeping you in the vault baby girl. 😔
