a fun little doodle i did at my sister's request, featuring the gang from our what the hair canon divergence au! some unhinged conversation over supper one night resulted in us entirely rewriting the whole show based off of one question: what if the spectrometric press from the first episode hadn't been crushed when varian's boilers exploded, and rapunzel got to see the results of the tests?

well, what happened (we decided that the tests would tell her the truth about her hair and the black rocks like she'd wanted it to) is that it triggered a chain of events that sent the main cast searching for the moonstone WAY before the canon timeline. varian's villain arc was entirely skipped and they brought him along for the ride. we left hook foot and shorty out because we hate both of them and there's no reason for them to have come in the first place loL. the journey to the dark kingdom also became a desperate race, because king frederic was Not ready to be exposed yet, and all the parents ended up chasing after the main cast. and then the brotherhood got involved and omg. it's such a fun au and i will happily explain it all if anyone asks :3

I have come to the realization that Lance is the only truly good parent in Tangled.

*Gestures indicating Lance to other Tangled parents* Do you see this man. This man right here. This is what you should aspire to. You should all aim to be like this man. This man outshines you all.

#i don't know if this is anything really #i just think the characters and the writers should both appreciate lance more #and out of all the tangled parents he's the only one who loves his kids unconditionally AND MAKES THAT KNOWN TO THEM which is arguably the #most important part #and who will never ever put an agenda or a corrupt monarch ahead of his kids' wellbeing #not to mention he didn't have parents to teach him how to be a good parent. he is one because he knows kids shouldn't have to go through #life without love and support and because he is a kind person despite everything he's been through #and also he will protect his kids from danger while still treating them like humans with agency. a balance that no other tangled parent was #ever fully able to find (or willing. at least in most cases)#and i just think he deserves recognition for that #tangled the series #tts lance

Imagine you are Rapunzel, Cass, etc. This random ass kid comes up to you and is like “let’s be friends.” He blows up his own village by accident. Then the next time you see him he nearly blows up the castle. THEN next time you see him he is pleading for his father’s life. Eventually he kidnaps your queen and you have to send an army after him, lock him up for about a year, he then wiped the memories of your king and Queen, saves the kingdom with you, and now you are besties.

If you’re Cass: you also have to deal with the fact he had a crush on you and next you know he is crushing your ribs. Years later you kidnap him.

If you’re Rapunzel: you are directly involved with this kid’s trauma (by accident but still) and are one of the reasons he went crazy— only to find yourself sitting next to him on a trip and he is using your hair as a shield while a robber tries to jump you.

If you’re Eugene: this weird kid with a shrine to you, who tried to kill you years ago, is now your cousin.

If you’re Lance: go touch his stuff and mess with him.

Not to mention he’s only 16 and all of you are really confused how he’s smarter than you OR how anything even led to this fucked up friend group.

I love this show.
