Friends Don’t Kiss | Jim Mason x Male - For this one I went for a darker, angsty and rough vibe, since @sojournmichael‘s story is really angsty and touches a dark and sad topic. Added a pop of color just to contrast (◕︿◕✿)

The Last Time I Saw Richard (2013) | The Tribes of Palos Verdes (2017)
one night jim's friend (boyfriend?) finds him at the beach, looking pretty miserable. he sits down next to jim and notices that jim's been crying and is trying real hard to fight and hide the tears now. a soft "jimmy?" and a hand rubbing his back is all it takes for jim to open up. "i'm scared" he says. "you-you're my best friend and i don't w-wanna ruin that... i can't lose you"
hey :) i wrote this while i was in my feelings last night so i hope you like it!
The vast ocean crashing against the sandy white beaches made Jim feel immensely small. Unimportant. Drowning. Funny how he could feel submerged by the sea without even stepping foot into the water.
His fingers gripped at his own hair, head down low as his crying drowned out the screaming in his head.
His parents voice. His sisters. His friends. His own.
His body shook with each cry that rippled through his body. He lost himself in the way the knot in his throat began to unravel with each shaking sob.
Y/N hadn’t heard from Jim all evening. Which wasn’t uncommon with all the changes that surrounded him. Y/N knew Jim was self destructive and isolated himself to escape reality. He had to pull him out of more than once during their friendship.
He knew Jim alway found solace in the ocean. The water made Jim feel like escape was possible; it made him think of the possibilities beyond that of Palos Verdes.
Y/N approached the weeping boy who sat near the shore. His hand gingerly hovering above Jim’s shoulder. He sat besides him, not saying anything. Simply allowing, if only for the moment, Jim to be.
To be sad. To be angry. To be hurt.
“Jim.” he finally spoke, his voice stabling Jim’s breathing. Jim looked down at then sand between his legs, it seemed to be tinted in indigo as the dark sky set. He kept silent; knowing if he spoke he would break again.
Y/N’s arm wrapped around Jim’s lower back. The tension Jim carried in his muscles dissolving. It felt like in that moment Y/N would hold his burdens for him. He knew Y/N always would.
“I’m here, Jimmy.” he leaned his head against Jim’s bare shoulder, his light scruff tickling Jim’s skin. Y/N’s fingers laced in the sand, allowing the particles to slip through his hand.
I know, Jim wanted to say, but all he could manage was to nod his head. Y/N’s hand grabbed Jim’s, squeezing it. There was so much that was left unsaid between the two boys and yet it was like they could read each other’s thoughts.
They stayed this was for what felt like a tranquil eternity. Simply being.
Blanket of twinkling stars surrounded them, boundless ocean and possibilities ahead of them. They dreamt in silence.
“Y/N.. y-you’re my best friend.” Jim broke the silence. He smiled, kissing Jim’s shoulder blade, “I know, Jim. You’re mine too.”
“I- I don’t want to lose you.” he couldn’t meet Y/N’s eyes. He looked everywhere, but at the other boys face. “I’m scared.”
“You can’t get rid of me, Jim.” he lifted his head off his shoulder. “It’s okay to be scared, dude. I feel it too. But.. I -” he cleared his throat, “I’ll be here for you. Always.” he promised.
Jim nodded, sniffling back the tears. Even if he felt like his world was falling apart, being with Y/N made him feel okay. He made him feel hopeful.
